The Moderators for this thread are Lee and Addy. Please do NOT PM them to request an authentication. Please post in this thread.

NOTE: The PurseForum requests that only members with an extensive knowledge of the brand and authenticating who have over 500 posts participate as authenticators in this AT thread. The moderators reserve the right to remove authentications that do not meet these requirements.

READ THESE RULES BEFORE POSTING A REQUEST

This is a free service. Our authenticators are volunteers providing their opinions, and who desire to keep counterfeiters and dishonest sellers from profiting from their trade, and to help buyers find authentic items. Authenticators are not required to answer all posts and, for various reasons, some may not be answered.

It is the preference of the authenticators on this thread not to give authentication to members who buy and resell bags. It is also the preference of the authenticators to give authentication to members who post in a range of threads, not just requesting free authentication for designer items. If your request is not answered here, for whatever reasons, professional authentication services are available outside of PF.

1. Do a SEARCH and check if the item has been reviewed by one of the senior authenticators before posting a request. Searches can be done via the seller name or by auction/listing number - add * to the beginning and end of the number (eg. *12345678*).

2. You MUST use the format below when requesting for authentication for auctions or non-auctions:

Format to use for an auction item:

Item Name:
Item Number:
Seller ID:
Link: (please make sure link works after you post) Don't post mobile web link.

Format to use for items from sites of professional seller:

Item Name (if you know it):
Link: (please make sure link works after you post)
Photos: (attach using the paperclip at the top of the message box or upload to photobucket.com and post the links)

We will not authenticate for those who post photos only and cannot provide link to online auction/sale.

3. All requests must have clear photos (either in listing and/or provided by member requesting the authentication). This will help expedite authentications. Please ask the seller/use the macro setting on your digi (little flower). If you cannot see the details yourself, neither can we.

At minimum, pics MUST include:
- all exterior
- interior
- LV heat stamp
- date code
- engraving on hardware (ie. zipper pull, lock, rivet, pushlock, screws, etc)

If the listing or your request does not have the required pics, it will NOT be reviewed. That means if you have not received a response, please check your original posting to ensure all information and pics are present.

Check out this thread! If you're using Photobucket, don't post mobile photobucket links, pics are too small, post links.

Authenticators are not required to answer every request, and it is their right to ignore a request that is not in the proper format.

4. Do NOT make more than 3 requests per post.

5. Please wait at least 24 hours before bumping your request. Search by seller or item # to ensure that it has not been reviewed (see rule 1). If the auction is ending soon, you may say so in your comments. Remember, we are just like you, and get on tPF when we have time so please be patient.

6. To ensure that additional pics requested are seen by the authenticators, quote or provide a link to your original request and response. Use the quote feature or copy and paste the url. Failure to do do may result in your query not being answered. Please utilize the quote feature when responding directly to another post.

7. Comments on price and/or condition are NOT permitted. So please do not ask us for an opinion.

8. Do NOT PM an authenticator or moderator to request authentication. Any and all such requests must be posted in this thread.

9. Should one of your items be questioned in this thread, you are welcome to provide additional pictures or materials supporting its authenticity.

10. Do NOT handle your disputes with other members in this thread. Take your differences to Private Message or just use the REPORT function ( button) to alert the mods, and let them handle it from there. In the meantime, just ignore the poster until a Mod can intervene. Failure to do so can result in banning. Always be respectful when you post and treat others as you expect to be treated. This is an open thread and everyone is welcome to participate.

Hello,

Bit of a strange one here. I know this is a purse forum, but not a lot of places online with the level of LV expertise on display here, when it comes to guy's stuff...

Anyway, I just bought a Porte Document Business PM briefcase, in the Ardoise Taiga leather. Model # is M32952.

I needed to buy it at the LV store inside Saks, so I could use my AMEX points (via Saks gift card), but they didn't have it. They had it delivered from a standalone LV store located just a few blocks from Saks. I should mention both these stores are in a very nice neighborhood in a major US city. The standalone may actually be a flagship store... At the very least, they do a ton of business, and both the standalone and the Saks location are extremely reputable stores moving a major amount of stock.

The briefcase looked perfect, except for two things.

1. It was missing the wider shoulder-pad piece that threads over the shoulder strap
2. On the back of the bag, there is supposed to be a wide piece of belting that allows the briefcase to be slid over the handle of a rolling suitcase. This bag does not have that.

It is definitely the Porte Document Business PM, M32952... It's a unique looking bag, the only thing that looks similar is the full size (non PM) Porte Document Business, but that bag has an exposed zipper on the front pocket, while the PM is a hidden zipper. Also, the full size is a much larger bag. I've been all over the LV briefcase line, there is nothing with the features and look of this bag that isn't this bag... So it is what it is. It just doesn't have a suitcase handle strap.

The bag looks and feels like authentic LV, I was considering the Porte Document Voyage PM, and side by side, the two bags had identical fit and finish. In fact the Business PM seemed a little better made, insomuch as it was a slightly more structured bag... The clerk helping me out even commented that it seemed a bit more durable for hard business use.

So while I don't think it's fake, and certainly nobody at either of these two stores thought it was fake, I am at a loss to explain why it doesn't have the suitcase strap. Other than someone buying an authentic bag at the standalone store, returning a fake, and then that fake was the one they sent over to the Saks store?

All thoughts and comments appreciated. Thanks!

EDIT: I read LovLouisVuitton's post above mine- I'll be honest, I don't intend to be an active contributing member, being that I'm a guy (who's not a stylist or industry pro) and this is a purse forum, ha ha... That said, I am a mod over at a major wrist watch forum, so if anyone has a question about buying a watch for themselves or the man in their life, please don't hesitate to PM me. Just so I'm not begging free advice without giving anything back. Cheers!

Hello and welcome!

With regards to your "Q's"

1. It was missing the wider shoulder-pad piece that threads over the shoulder strap
2. On the back of the bag, there is supposed to be a wide piece of belting that allows the briefcase to be slid over the handle of a rolling suitcase. This bag does not have that.

#1 - NOT all pieces come with an extra shoulder pad & because it was from another store it could just as easily been left out? - BUT if you call CS maybe they could get you one. Because what I see on the website ( My Country's website) it does not show a shoulder pad? Nor in the details?

#2 - You really need to either contact LV CS or go into an actual store to get the strap or replace the Briefcase for a New one. There is nothing I can do to help you. I am really sorry but this a LV issue NOT an Authenticity issue. I hope you understand and Good Luck!

Hey, thanks for the response!

With regards to #1, yes, I saw that too. They actually just gave me one at the store, so no worries there.

With regards to #2, this is a little confusing, because maybe I didn't explain it correctly... It's not a matter of getting the strap, because it's not a detachable strap... It's a horizontal piece of leather, approximately 12" (30.5 CM) by 2" (5 CM) that is stitched to the backside of the bag. The purpose of it is to slide that piece of leather over the handle of a rolling suitcase, so the bag can ride atop the suitcase. So the bag should have had that, but it does not. LV cannot explain why...

So I guess I should re-phrase my question... Is it possible that LV can forget to add a feature like that to a bag, and the missing feature can avoid detection during quality-control, and the bag goes to a retail store... So basically an authentic bag, but without a (fairly major, design-wise) feature? Or does the absence of a feature like this automatically point to a fake bag that made it's way into a retail store by someone buying an authentic bag and returning a fake?

Hi! Can you please help me authenticate this white multicolor Pochette I just bought from EBay please?
My main concern from this bag is that both sides of this Pochette are identical (same color LVs and everything else). Is that possible? I emailed the seller and told her that all the bags I've seen online have two different sides.. but she just told me I had a good eye and that the is suppose to be like that.
Thanks!!!

I just purchased this (vintage) LV any help would be great to authenticate this. Just figured the outside of the bag looked pretty "new" (maybe someone took great care of it) but a little curious since they did discontinue the Jeune Fille. The inside does look legit though due to the "stickiness"- . I tried my best to see if it was real or not with research on this model, and came to my conclusion that its not a fake but looking for more peace of mind though, since this is my first time buying vintage *fingers crossed*
