Dear fellow Dior enthusiasts,

It is always our pleasure to help with your authentication requests; however, there have been various cases where such requests are not accompanied by basic requisite information. To that end, nataliam1976, LaMissy and I have agreed on the following guidelines and tips to streamline the authentication process.

Authentication guidelines/tips

1. All eBay authentication requests should be posted in this format:

Item name:
Item number:
Seller ID:
Direct URL link:

This format is adopted from the Hermès authentication thread. It is the most efficient way of making a request because:

(a) the item name immediately alerts the one of us with the most expertise to attend to that particular type of item,
(b) the inclusion of the item number facilitates a search of the thread for previous instances where it may already have been authenticated, and
(c) the seller ID is useful where we know of reputable resellers on eBay that sell only authentic items.

All authentication requests for other online resellers should be posted in this format:

Item name:
Online reseller name:
Direct URL link:

All authentication requests must be formatted in one of the above ways otherwise they may not be entertained.

2. Authentication can only happen when there are plenty of clear, closeup photos of the item, the more the better.

In particular, items cannot be authenticated without clear, closeup photos of both sides of the inside leather tag for bags or, in the case of wallets and other small leather goods, the 'Christian Dior Paris' stamp on the inside as well as the production sequence stamp found behind one of the bill compartments or card slots.

In addition, photos of any relevant hardware should also be provided, the more the better. In the case of Gauchos, clear closeups of both sides of the coin medallion lying flat (not at an angle), the key and the buckles are needed. For Saddles, a straight-on frontal shot of the entire bag (not at an angle), clear closeups of both sides of the 'CD' links on the strap, and the dangling 'D' charm on the flap.

Sunglasses cannot be authenticated without clear closeups of the insides of both of the arms.

All photos should be taken in plenty of natural lighting (sunlight) without flash. Clear closeups may be obtained by using the macro mode (the icon of a flower) on a digital camera. Photos should not be resized below 800x600 resolution.

Authentication requests which comply with the formatting requirement in part 1 but which otherwise fail to include these photo requirements may not be entertained.

3. In most cases, unless there are dead giveaways and obvious red flags, jewellery cannot be authenticated, even with plenty of photos. This is to do with the nature of Dior jewellery. Please therefore understand that we may not be able to help you with a jewellery authentication request.

4. Patience is a virtue. Do not re-post your request repeatedly just because another person's request has been attended to before yours. This may be because at the time there was no one with the requisite expertise to authenticate your item; this does not mean you are being ignored.

5. Courtesy is also a virtue. Please and thank-you are basic manners and good forum etiquette.

I lost my bid on that last one by only $18, so the hunt continues!

I bought this from a vintage online store a few months ago. I had set it aside and forgotten about it but as I’m looking now, I can’t tell if this is authentic or not. Just a coin purse, no date code that I see.

The zipper pull is not super light and the canvas feels pretty good, similar to others I’ve had.
I believe this is authentic

I got the bag. It has a strong chemical smell. Does that mean its fake. I have a small lady dior that only smells like leather. This one smells strong smell when you gonin a brand new shoe store. Is this the tanning process smell
Im attaching more pictures
It's very hard to tell from the pictures since fakes of Lady Dior bags have gotten very accurate. It is not normal for the bag to have a strong smell at all. Are you able to return the bag?

Hi Joe,

Does that mean you are not certain about authenticating this particular model or do you mean like you can't tell either way (authentic vs fake)?

I don't know if this would help, but I have another pair from last year from retail store and they look almost identical except the plastic toe of the shoe is ends slightly shorter than the one above, the amount of pattern dior oblique visible on the sole is slightly different, the box is a slightly different shade of grey, and the dust bags on the one I posted above have slightly thicker lettering. I guess these things are what's throwing me off, but I am not sure if there can be slight variability season to season especially on the packaging.

This is the first time I have bought an item from a popular resale site which claims to have "authentication." I think I've become super neurotic about all the differences since I have seen quite a few fakes out there even on reputable sites. This is what happens when you miss out on this initial grey colorway and are desperate to buy them. I wish I had just bought them from the store at that time.

Thanks again for your help.
I can't tell for sure because I don't have enough experience with these. I've seen them in store and noticed that sometimes the logo stamp is a bit blurry. However, if you own a pair and there are differences down to the box, then maybe it's best to return the item while you still can, for peace of mind.

Yes its through ebay. It went through ebay autheticity as well. It doesn’t look fake in stitching or date code at all
I got it authenticated on lolipuff and real authentication as well
Im worried what it theres mold in there or something thats why it smells strong or is it leather tanning process? I can return it as ebay gives days and i messaged them within 24 hours

I think its more of a smell like it was left closed in a box. Its like a musty but new shoe store smell. Its gotten lotttt less. Its 2021 bag from date code. I hope it has no mold. Should i be worried

I sent a dm as well
Please do not send requests via dm. All requests should be posted here, and will be responded here. I would like to suggest again that if you are unhappy with your purchase, whether it is the possibility of mold, or possibly its authenticity which is difficult to tell with accurate fakes now, then please proceed with returning your item. Your purchase should make you happy.

Ok thankyou. I should go and check in store just to see if this particular model color has any scent
Also i was able to take a date code picture i just pulled the inner suede lining out to take proper picture as inner lining is not attached to the base i suppose ?
Stamp is foiled
Also with strap the weight is 292.21g instead of 300g mentioned on website
Does the weight have to be exact 300g?
Because the small i bought from the store also weighs 748.4g instead of exact 810g as shown on Dior website
Thankyou for your guidance
