The too-wide base is what worries me too, most of the other Hippie styles I can remember, and I'm sure I haven't seen all of them, are usually flat or with narrow bases so they sit close to the body, except for a vintage green suede version posted a while back but that had several vertical leather stripes down the front and no turnlock. I've never seen a style with these exact details before, but I'm not as familiar with true vintage, especially 30 years old or more, as some of our other members. Whateve is on vacation but maybe when she comes home she can take a look.

I told the seller my suspicions but she got back to me saying she looked into it and it hasn't been modified. So I guess it's coming my way. I will share pics when I get it in so we can figure out what's up with it.

@rkiz, @Hyacinth I had the exact same thing happen. I thought I was buying a stewardess and ended up getting a bag exactly like that. Unfortunately, it's been polished and I didn't notice till much later. I will find it later and post measurements.

The bag that you got, was it meant to look that way or was it altered? This seller says it hasn't been modified (assuming she knows what she is talking about). That's a shame about the polish, I hate when that happens [emoji53]

I don't think it was modified, unless of was an option given from Coach. Yours is the 3rd one I've come across. The first one was on eBay and we were all discussing whether the turn lock was after market modification. Now I'm not so sure. I'm leaving towards this style existed somewhere.. maybe the catalog of that time is missing.. hrmmmm..

Interesting! That eases my mind a little that thus isn't someone's project lol. Thank you for sharing [emoji846]

What do you think is fake about the serial number???

If you want to return it to the seller because of the smoke smell, then contact the seller. The bag itself is genuine.
All of my other older bags have the serial number as xxx-xxxx where as this one is the opposite , thus I thought it might ve fake. Thank you for taking the time to look at my bag.

Coach has changed the format of their serial numbers many times over the years. The 2 Salearea Guides on Creeds and on Serial Numbers posted at Ebay tell the details:

Want to order this bag. do u think it is authentic?

Could someone please have a look at this "Bean Bag" creed bag. Thanks!

Comment: No serial number. Inside pocket & its zipper look wrong. What I can see of the strap looks questionable. Leather wrinkled.

I agree with all of the above. The zipper pull is too big, the entire top edge of the bag really looks badly made and sewn, the lack of a serial number is impossible to explain, the tiny bit of the strap end you can see in pic #2 looks like the ends are riveted instead of sewn, and the only style that even slightly resembles this is a 4017 Lightweight Light Hobo, but I owned one of those and that's NOT how the top and especially the top corners of that style are made.

The creed stamping by itself is almost perfect, the only possible problem I can see is the background of the Coach logo, which should be darker or textured to look like it's been burned a bit. But without a serial number I wouldn't personally want to report it although I wouldn't recommend buying it. The pictures just aren't showing the details we need to see.

Here's a genuine Bean Bag creed for comparison

IMG_0416.JPG IMG_0418.JPG IMG_0420.JPG IMG_0421.JPG A newbie here. What do you think about this Geometric? I am suspicious because of the quality of stitching (uneven edges), and I also realize that most of the bags on Ebay have exactly the same serial number - what are the chances that they were produced all the same month and in the same plant? Also the H on one side of the the tag is blurry, although I've seen it on real ones. Otherwise the leather looks very good.
