Item: COACH VINTAGE TAFT SHOULDER HANDBAG #9980
Listing: 142114948517
Seller: tinastokens
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/142114948517?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT
I reported several fakes from tinastokens a while back. She also sold this fake Coach "as is.":
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OLD-COACH-Handbag-9966-AS-IS-/131865598849?hash=item1eb3cd5b81:g:LhMAAOSwwpdW-K5d&nma=true&si=HYccTfWv5OQJb%2BZqMZgbBqlf9VE%3D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

This is the wonky creed from the above fake:

Purchased from Shopgoodwill.com. Only had photos of the outside of the bag. They will give me a refund, but they want the bag back. I want an official determination on this obvious fake, please! It was supposed to be a Willis. View attachment 3476751

It's fake.

And if they want the bag back, make sure they pay for return shipping! (I'm guessing that they want it back to resell.)

The bag seems ok, but I personally do NOT consider ***************** to be qualified in ANY way to authenticate Coach products.
Although Hyacinth's post refers to a different Coach listing and different bag than the one Maramd asked about, both are from shopgoodwill.com.

I wonder whether ***************** authenticated Maramd's fake too.

@maramd , is the listing still available to post the link?

Is it safe to not doubt the authenticity of a Made in New York City bag?
The turn lock does not look original.

IMO, unless you know a bag is authentic, it's never "safe" not to question anything. I can't speak for the turnlock on that bag you've asked about but the seller verdellasfriend1 has this fake with a BIN serial number:

ETA: She also sold this fake made with "SURERIOR CRAFTSMANHIP":

The bag is genuine but the turnlock isn't. And it doesn't seem as if it's installed well - take a close look at the last photo in the gallery and zoom in and look at the hidden parts of the turnlock assembly. The whole thing looks too thick for the bag.

In the description the seller says:
"Has a 3 section interior with 1 zipper pocket. Pictu.res are a large part of my description so please look carefully."
I have no idea what s/he means by a 3-section interior, since there AREN'T any pictures of it, just the creed stamp. It looks like a Convertible Clutch but there's no photo of the under-flap pocket, assuming it has one. Maybe that's one of the "sections" the seller mentioned, but a decent photo would have been a big help.

And I agree with BeenBurned, just because we haven't spotted a fake Coach with a Made in NYC creed doesn't mean they don't exist.

@BeenBurned
So is the bag I asked about a fake? Should I report it? Or is it just that the seller is bad, known for selling fakes?

The two photos of the creed and inside pocket are from 2 different bags.

In the 2nd set of pics you posted, the lining stripe along the left side of the creed patch is brown. In the Ebay listing, it's white.

And why is the style number different in the listing description and the creed close-up?

ETA - Sniped by BeenBurned!

oh my gawd, I can't believe I did that. So very sorry for the confusion. I have 2 bags, and I mixed up my photo with the link.
Let me start over, please. I will list both bags on separate requests.

Both bags are authentic.

Here is the link. They are paying to ship it back.
http://www.shopgoodwill.com/viewItem.asp?ItemID=32254636
Glad they're paying return shipping. Call me cynical but I will call shopgoodwill.com hypocrites. Although the listing you've posted states "Goodwill Industries of Central Indiana states that this item has been posted in accordance with shopgoodwill.com's policy prohibiting the sale of counterfeit items," clearly they aren't in compliance with the law because they should have (and are required to) authenticate before listing. And to further comment on my cynicism, it's my belief that they want the fake bag back so they can sell it in one of their stores with a disclaimer of, "we aren't selling as genuine Coach and make no assurance as to authenticity."
