On eBay Sept. 16th and buyer has sent eBay a claim that it was not authentic and that we sold them a fake! Could someone kindly help me to prove this? I'm not sure if the listings still visible, but here's the link.

It's absolutely authentic. i wish buyers would ask questions BEFORE accusing sellers!

Did the buyer say why she believes it's fake? Coach hasn't been putting serial numbers on creeds for 2 years. If that's her concern, she needn't worry; the bag she received it authentic.

Just an FYI: Zipper brand has nothing to do with authenticity.
  • There are genuine and fake YKK zippers used by counterfeiters on fakes
  • There are several brands other than YKK used by Coach.
Please refer your buyer here.

BeenBurned, You're the best! I appreciate your answer. God Bless to the best!

This was the second reply sent from the buyer today:
jengojengo send you a message about their request:

"The tag and straps are plastic material, which I could not have known from pictures. That was my first clue. Then I did more research and realized that, even though you may not realize it, the bag is not real. I would like a refund, please."

To reply now, see the request details.

You should reply to the buyer and try to work things out by Sep 30, 2016. On that day, the buyer can ask us to step in and help.

This was the first complaint sent:
Reason:

Doesn't seem authentic

Comments:

This is not a real Coach bag, so I would like a refund please.
Did you refer jengojengo here so she could see that the bag was authenticated? You might also let her know that that bag isn't a leather bag. It's a coated fabric with leather trim and it IS leather.

If she doesn't like the bag, that's a different story but if that's the case, buyers should be honest. (Often buyers see a "no refund" policy and assume that in order to return, they need an excuse.)

Please refer her here and she can get more explanation.

ETA: Another option is that you can assure her that the bag is authentic but since you don't want a buyer to feel stuck with a bag she doesn't like, you might consider offering to take the bag back either with her or you paying shipping.

BeenBurned, thank you for your answer. I do know that there are genuine and there are fake YKK, but I post them because of so many questions from potential buyer's who ask for this specifically. I don't understand why the YKK picture is so important to a lot of buyer's, and I've tried to let them know this same information you gave me, but they don't care. Anyways, that you for everything. God Bless!

The reason so many buyers ask about YKK zippers (and accuse sellers of fakes when a bag has a different zipper brand) is because they read one or many of the BS "authenticity" guides permeating the internet that state that "all authentic Coach has YKK zippers and it's fake if it doesn't have YKK."

That's why we stress that buyers should be careful which guides they read and why Hyacinth has the "zipper statement" in her signature.

Yes, and I totally agree with you, BeenBurned. Anyways, I wanted you to know that the buyer has reviewed this post, as I sent her some snapshots and the link, as you suggested...and it worked out! The buyer sent me their apology and thanked me for the quick responses and answer. The buyer also gave us a POSITIVE feedback! I'm so happy and thankful for experts with quick answers to resolve these cases, such as yours. Thank you and we appreciate all that you have helped us with. God Bless you!:nuts::biggrin::smile::heart:
