Just wanted to thank the authenticators on this forum, and especially for the information you put out on eBay sellers. Even when a seller has positive feedback and the item appears authentic, I always run a search on the seller in this forum to see what may have been said about that person. It's a never-ending battle, but your efforts are making a difference and I know we all appreciate your time.

I agree, many thanks to all the expert authenticators on here. We really appreciate what you do!

Thanks!

And a reminder too about searching the Forum for sellers - the forum software here doesn't recognise "characters", things like dashes, underscores, asterisks, etc.

So if you're trying to find someone like linda*s***stuff , and include all the asterisks, the forum won't be able to find it. Unfortunately many crooked sellers and sellers who can't be bothered to actually look for and remove fakes, like the one in the example I just gave, use those kinds of characters in their names and IDs.

Sometimes with that kind of name, we might post multiple versions of their names with the characters stripped out, but that still leaves a lot of posts about them unsearchable. Looking just at the Coach forum for " lindasstuff " only brings up one post. Using " lindas stuff " brings up 57. Leaving out the asterisks and searching all of tPF for " linda stuff " brings up 493 results although not all of them refer to her.

So when Searching, remember that those non-standard characters can create problems with the forum software. If an ID uses them and nothing comes up when you search, it's not necessarily because we haven't discussed them.

Another place you should always check is TOOLHAUS.ORG - they usually show the entire Ebay ID history except for the really long records, and they don't clip out the characters. here's what they show on the same seller - 801 Neutrals and 487 Negatives in the last 12 months,

truncated at 1000:
http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?User=linda*s***stuff&Dirn=Received+by&ref=home

history up to 2012:
http://toolhaus.org/cgi-bin/negs?User=linda*s***stuff&Dirn=Received+by&Many=ON

Unfortunately they can only post a certain number of Feedback comments at once, and stop at 1000 unless you ask them not to. Going back to 2012 the same seller shows 1372 Neutrals and 845 Negatives, with only 5 removed by Ebay. The seller's been a member since 2001 so there's no way of knowing how many more there were.

You're very welcome. It's posts likes yours that make our work worth it.

To add to Hyacinth's comment about seaeches, if the forum search doesn't find the references, a google search of "seller ID purse forum" will bring up a lot of info.

Hello,
First let me say how grateful I am for all of your advice. It's hard for me to tell what is authentic coach via the internet, and I never come upon second-hand coach in person. I was wondering if someone can tell me if this purse is authentic?

Item: Coach Court 9870
Listing number: 251491411183
Seller: artpotteryjunkie
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/251491411183?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

Comments: I see that there's a little wear on the bottom edges. Can this be remedied with some kind of leather conditioner? Do you ever use shoe polish, or is that a terrible idea?

THANK YOU!!!!!!

The bag is authentic. I really don't like the use of shoe polish. It is really hard to remove. Usually leather conditioner is enough. It is a temporary fix, though, and you'll have to reapply it periodically. For corners, the best conditioner is Black Rock Leather 'n' Rich in my opinion. For a more permanent solution, sometimes I use a little acrylic paint mixed with Lexol conditioner. This bag would probably look even better with a complete rehab treatment, including a bath. You can get help with this from the rehab thread in the Clubhouse section of the forum.
