Item: VINTAGE COACH LARGE SHOULDER BAG
Listing number: 230962709821
Seller: lcrepon

Comments: I was thinking that this looked like a Westbrook 4241 maybe, but perhaps larger? I asked the seller for a photo of the creed patch or even just the serial number & was told no serial number it is definitely not from the late 90's hits much older just says coach New York at the bottom of the bag Seller says it's from the 1970's. I can't think what it might be(?)

Thanks very much!

Whateve is more knowledgeable than I on bags of this era.

I think those are K's. They do look like x's from certain angles. I compared the creed to my pocket purse from the same era, and I thought it matched. Here is mine. What do you think?

Style 4241 was called a Westport Tote, I think. But it was made in the late 1990s and there's no way it wouldn't have had a serial number that also included the production codes and style number.

A "Coach New York" stamp at the bottom of the outside panel is something that's usually found only on bags from the late 1990s or 2000s AND on a ton of fakes. Without seeing a lot more photos of the bag including that Coach New York stamp, the inside showing the pockets and hardware and the straps and hardware there's no way I'd even consider buying or recommending it and there's no way to authenticate it. The supposed 1970s date also seems kind of early to have a magnetic snap (I'd like to see close-ups of both parts of that too).

Hello, I was wondering if someone would be so kind to authenticate this one for me. I found her at a yard sale for $1.50. I figured for that price it wouldn't hurt to take a chance and find out if she is real or not. The style number is 4601. Thank you all so much!

It's one of the Riding Bags from around 1987. I can't tell if it's the Small or the Large, there was less than an inch difference in height between them. The style number was either 9745 or 9750.

Thank you, Hyacinth - that is exactly what I thought.

(And I KNEW it was Westport - I was just in Westbrook yesterday, not too far from where we had a summer home when I was kid, and I must have had that on my mind!)

Thanks again.

After comparing both creeds, I see that they do seem to match, right down to the spacing between words.
