Hi there! I am interested in this item and was hoping you could authenticate. It seems okay to me, but I noticed that the seller has sold a ton of the same one.

Item: Coach brown leather dog leash key clip
Seller: charforu
Listing number: 261016049715
Link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/COACH-SIGNA...ultDomain_0&hash=item3cc5c4d833#ht_500wt_1206

There are several things about the clips that worry me but the number they've sold is a BIG red flag. And there's a comment by a buyer that raises another red flag:
"Not sure if actual coach quality, but for the price its good."

Also some of the descriptions include "Signature" and "dog leash clip" and those keychains don't have either one - Coach has never called that type of clip a "dog leash". The keyring itself is thin and cheap, and the Coach stamp on the leather is not up to Coach standards.

Even if they had been as cheap as $9 at the outlets the seller still couldn't make a profit selling at those prices once you figure in sales taxes, Ebay and Paypal fees. I'd stay far away from those keychains, and any others from seller " CHARFORU "

I have no doubt that charforu sells fake Coach keychains.

Other problems I noticed are that the Coach lozenge stamp is smaller than it should be, stitching is sloppy, not close enough to the edges and there should be a heat-pressed border between the edge and stitching. There are also differences in what the clip should look like.

Here's an authentic version of what the keychain should look like:

Item: Fake? Drawstring Bag
Seller: Religious Thrift Shop
Comments: I had an errand today that took me near a thrift shop that I rarely visit. I decided to stop and found this bag but the creed was so faint I couldn’t read it. I could barely make out “Made in the United States” and that the serial number had 4 digits followed by 3 digits – but that was all I could read. It was only $5 so I took a chance.

When I got it back home I rubbed a wet cloth over the creed patch and took some pics. I was very sad to see these numbers and read the statement below from Hyacinth’s fake numbers guide. I can't read every word on the creed patch, even with a lighted magnifying glass, so I don't know if there are any typos.

I figure that it’s a fake but since I went to all this trouble I wanted to ask you to confirm that (and perhaps help to educate others through my unfortunate experience!)

Oh well, it was only $5 for charity. Thank you!

From Hyacinth:
"0444-317, 0444-316 AND 0444-315 and possibly others beginning with 0444 - some "classic" fakes are showing up with these numbers and have a number of mistakes in the creed stamps and on the bags themselves. Assume they're all fake.
Any 'classic' leather bags with the # 0444-31(X) and heavy horizontal lines both above and below the numbers is fake."

It's definitely fake. The "overstamping" lines are the wrong shape for the digits they're supposed to be part of, The word "markings" during this time period would never have been split between two different lines of text, the stitching on the creed edges is really uneven and the stamp itself is way off-center, that red fabric lining would never have been used in any Coach product during that time especially one with pebbled leather - in fact that pebbled leather and slider type of strap adjustment would only have been used by the mid-1990s Sonoma bags and they only had black-on-black striped linings. It's hard to read the creed but there's also a good chance that there's no letter "a" in "scratches".

The photography lighting also really shows off the color differences in the strap, drawstring and body of the bag.

Thanks so much, I will destroy it!

Just a follow-up to my previous post - there's more evidence that this bag may be genuine. Several others have shown up on Ebay with the same style number but different production codes, usually a really good indication that it's a genuine style number.

In your original post you didn't give any measurements but the two listings I've found seem to indicate this may be a Large version of the original Hippie Flap. Hope this eases your mind a bit. :smile1:
