Comments: I won this item but have not paid for it yet. I was getting ready to and I decided to do a more thorough search on the seller, and now I'm concerned.

It's pprobably genuine but I don't recommend dealing with that seller. Good luck.

BTW, the bag is NOT "vintage" - it's less than 10 years old assuming it's genuine. That's 10 years away from qualifying as Vintage.

HI! and hmmm?.....I have this FOB. And I do like it an awful lot, wondering if it is a real Coach and if it is, did it come with a hang tag? It doesn't matter to me but Id just like to know!
TIA

They did make a style like that, number 92242, and it came with a hangtag. All I have on it is 1 picture from Coach, and the picture isn't clear enough to do more than a basic comparison. Almost impossible to be sure either way.

:0 That's it!!! That picture is identical to what I'm holding here, with the exception of the hang-tag. Good weight to it as well. Thank You sooo much for the number to this FOB.
I think Ill try calling coach and see if they will send me a tiny hang-tag.

Adding this "quote" below because I forgot to in the above post.
See? I am really trying to be a good girl and follow the rules :)

Comments: Could one of you please let me know if this appears authentic? I have compared it to what I know based on Hyacinth's sage advice over on Ebay, but just want to be sure if you agree with me that it's real.

Also, I'm not crazy about this color. I usually prefer a darker brown since most of my leatherware is a Walnut or Chocolate brown color. In the case of a vintage British Tan bag, is there any conditioning treatment one can do to make the color intentionally darker? I'm not talking about professional dying, I mean more like applying some sort of treatment that might have a lasting darkening affect. If this is the wrong forum area to ask this part of my question, please let me know where to post this second question and I will re post there. As always, many thanks in advance!

It seems completely genuine.

As for darkening the color, please wait for more opinions. If you don't get any answers here, try posting at the main Coach forum:
http://forum.purseblog.com/coach/

With anything that just darkens the leather, I'd be worried about different parts of the skins not absorbing the product at the same rate. If you really want a darker color, keep your mind open about a professional re-dyeing. Again, wait for more opinions since I really don't have any experience with this.

Thanks so much Hyacinth! So I guess then that professional dying isn't taboo the way, say, shoe polish is? I've re posted this color related question in the rehab thread, thanks!

I'd suggest Katev's idea of doing a bath and rehab first just to see what it looks like. And a professional dye job is infinitely preferable to shoe polish! :D

Thanks! BTW, I noticed in the photos of this aforementioned bag, that while it is a NYC era bag, it has the riveted holes on the strap. Most of the NYC/earlier era bags seem to never have the metal rivet around the holes on the straps, just a neat hole, but no metal liner. Is this strap probably a replacement because it has metal reinforcements on each strap hole? And do you know what year Coach began putting the metal reinforcements on their strap holes? Just curious...

I never really paid attention since it seemed based more on the style of the bag than on any year. In general, wider straps were more likely to have grommets, the 1985 catalog shows them on the straps for the Courier Pouch and the Stewardess Bag, and the 1976 catalog shows them on thye Crescent Bag and Classic Pouch. It seems like the wide straps where the center was only a single layer of leather with a thin strip of leather sewn onto each edge, like the strap on the original Rambler, were the ones most likely to have the holes reinforced. The thinner straps were usually already a double layer of leather and didn't need extra reinforcement.

Do you know if this is authentic?

Creed says made in Turkey, and the style number is L92- 9181

When I put this in Drilldown, it comes up with a flashy coloured bag.

Seller has 93,1 % positive, mainly due to shipping mistakes. Deals mostly with keychains and car-parts ?

The description is in german, but there is not a lot of info anyway.

Thanks for your help!
