Hi Hyacinth....I'm sort of freaking out now! I posted pics of a bag I bought on eBay which looks very authentic and from a seller with excellent feedback but now I read that you say coach doesn't have zipper pulls with their name on it but as you can see from my photo the round ring on the zipper pull has coach imprinted on it. Does this mean it's fake?! Oh I hope not

Thanks for your help.....
I think you misunderstood what Hyacinth meant when she referred to the incorrect zipper pull on Salearea's listing. That particular zipper pull is on several of the poppy style bags and is correct for the bag you purchased. There's nothing wrong with it on your bag.

What happens and often gives fakes away as being fake is that the counterfeiters, in their attempts to copy some styles, put either phony style hardware which was never used by Coach or incorrect style hardware that wouldn't be on the style of bag it's on.

And that's what happened on that swingpack. The round zipper hardware wouldn't be on that style item.

I'm here. I've emailed Hyacinth back with more details. If it ends up being fake of course it will be destroyed. This was actually a bag that came as part of a bulk lot purchase directly from a major nationwide retailer that sells coach products. The only possible way it could be a fake is if one of their salespeople took it back as a return (which unfortunately is possible). I am discussing the details of the bag directly with Hyacinth and sincerely apologize for any concerns.

^ SUPER embarrassed. This was actually a sold to us as a bulk purchase (as mentioned) from a major retailer as "overstock". Turns out it was a store return where a customer returned a fake with an authentic care card and got their money back. Our company ended up with the fake bag and one of our employees listed it without fully vetting it. I am thoroughly embarrassed that it was listed and thank you ladies for your help and support. As mentioned before, the buyer has been contacted and a cancellation form was sent. This bag is being destroyed as I type.

Just the other day, I had contact with another trusted ebay seller friend who also purchases from a major ratailer and she had a fake Coach bangle bracelet. In her case, the scamming customer had bought an authentic bangle and returned the ioffer fake with the genuine price tag reattached to the fake.

I've also seen it happen in major discount department stores where customers do a buy-and-switch and the clerks handling returns aren't trained to recognize fakes.

It happens and it's pretty sad.

I'm sorry, Richard. You're apparently not the only seller who buys store lots who ended up with a fake in one of them.

It looks like someone else has a similar bag:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-44310...211?pt=US_CSA_WH_Handbags&hash=item3f13e3aef3

The one from that seller still has an attached price tag and I'm assuming their listing title and style number is copied from the tag - They show:
"Coach 44310 Gold Brown Mia Outline Signature Swingpack Crossbody" and it has the same emblem as the bag we questioned. Interestingly, the zipper pull that on Richard's bag says Coach is missing and that's pointed out by the seller.

But when I Google Coach 44310 I come up with a bunch of genuine Mia Swingpacks with that number. Like the description on the second seller's tag, the Cs on those bags are actually OUTLINE styles, not plain Signature styles, and the Carriage emblem isn't a solid one-piece plaque but the standard 2-piece Carriage and Lozenge that we see on the Madisons and other highline bags. None of these seem to have a Coach logo zipper pull either. The only Mia Swingpack I could find on Coach.com is a leather one but it also has the standard 2-piece Carriage plaque:
http://www.coach.com/online/handbag...d=10051&langId=-1&partNumber=44332_svbk#84823

This is what seems to be a real one from Bonz:
http://www.bonanzamarketplace.ca/listings/NWT-COACH-MIA-OUT-SIG-SWINGPACK-BAG-44310/37002880

Normally I have little use for Google but the ones listed show the differences including the possibly real ones' creed patches. Google "coach 44310 mia swingpack" to see the others. They've been listed by sellers at Amazon, Bonz, Ebay, and other places. There are many similarities to the questionable bags so this 44310 was obviously the bag being copied, but with cheaper fabric and those fake zipper pulls some of the crooks just can't resist using. I'm just guessing but Korea seems to be the likely source just based on that zipper pull since it's been used on Korean fakes for at least 20 years.

Richard, I'm sorry you got stuck in the middle of this, but I'm wondering now if we're seeing a newly popular way of "selling" fakes - take them to a department store with a liberal return policy and avoid the problems of selling publicly, just let the middlemen who buy store overstocks and returns get stuck with them. If the store questions the bag the crook can always claim they got it as a gift. It's happened in the past but two of the same bag style in such a short time period makes me thing that this is becoming more common.

Can you please authenticate, I got lucky today at the Goodwills!

TIA!

Both are genuine. The first one is a Weston Shopper from 1997, and I can't find a style name for the second but all the details look ok. It was made in 2000.
