The Savers I go to rarely have any authentic bags, let alone anything good.
I have been pretty lucky with my local Savers. I have seen some fakes there but also some very nice authentic bags. Their prices for vintage designer bags used to be more reasonable, but lately they have been getting higher and higher; too much for used bags IMO. I am always concerned that I may buy a fake or that the the rehab will fail, so I try not to invest more than $20 in a bag.
One thing that I really appreciate about Savers is that (unlike Goodwill and Salvation Army) they will let you exchange an item if you bring it back within a week with the receipt and the tag attached. That way I feel a bit more comfortable taking a chance on a possible fake.
I HATE paying any amount of my hard-earned money for a fake! When it happens and I can't get a refund or exchange, I console myself with the thought that the money is benefiting a charitable organization!
I'm just dying to share this "non-purse find" that I got at Savers at the same time that I bought the Watson bag. It is a "Judith Jack" necklace made of sterling silver, freshwater pearls, marcasites, and mother-of-pearl. It is very pretty and I only paid $6!
