Hi! I actually have no links, as somebody contacted me through Craig's List saying they have a Coach for sale in response to my want ad. They want $125 for it and said it's just like new. Seems very cheap, no? I don't know much about these, as I'm more of a legacy gal :) But this is CUTE! And I always wanted one of these gathered bags. Could it be real?

I'm to meet them on Saturday in Queens, and really don't want to drive around Astoria if the bag isn't real lol.

These are the only photos they could provide:

That's what I felt too and the creed looks funny. But I just cannot be sure that it's fake.
Please don't ever report unless you are absolutely sure something is fake. We'd rather see a possible fake slip by, after which the buyer can have it authenticated, than to see an authentic item pulled and a seller's account unfairly dinged.

Item: Coach Patent Leather Hand Bag
Listing number: 160723079786
Seller: **a-b**

Comments: This is not my auction. Someone just won this auction but the creed looks funny. Wanna check if this is fake.

Fake. Not just the bad creed patch, but the base of the handles and the Carriage plaque are both in the wrong position AND the plaque is crooked. The creed stamp isn't centered correctly either.

The crappy ID that won't show up in a lot of Searches, like tPF's, is another big red flag.

Here's what I'm pretty sure is a real one:

The link to the closed listing that BB posted shows a genuine creed patch supposedly from the same month and plant and the differences are obvious

Oh, good grief! I was so busy concentrating on the funny font on the plaque, the lack of chain strap, different-looking hardware and different color lining that I didn't even see the crappy stitching on the creed.

Please report **a-b**'s listing.

I'm glad you can still get a refund - take it back ASAP.

The J codes in all the Made in US bags I've seen are all in confirmed or probable fakes. J was a China plant code at least as early as December 2001 - I have 2 Mercer bags with J codes from that month - and the code in yours is for April 2002 when "J" had already been assigned to the Chinese for at least 4 months.

Also, the color shouldn't wear off a solid brass zipper, especially after barely 10 years.

Hyacinth, I got a fabulous, pristine non-Coach bag as an even exchange for the dirty fake Taft bag that I bought at Savers! See the link below and thanks so much!

Comments: The print looks too big for the item, plus when I googled the style number, I get this: http://luxboutique.blogspot.com/2010/07/coach-poppy-signature-small-wristlet.html - the seller has sold several of these
Thanks!

That's not even her photo, it's Coach's. There's no way to tell what she's really selling.

Thanks. So it is a real Coach style, but is the style number correct for that style?
I wonder what you think about this bag with a 99999 style number:

I have no idea if the style number matches the photo, there are 2 of that style and 2 in a different style listed on Ebay.

I don't recommend buying from Linda*s***stuff. Because of the characters in her ID her name probably isn't searchable here, but she and her horde of assistants don't know or care about authenticating what they sell - she's sold plenty of fake Coaches already.

You posted the wrong link to her auction, but style number 99999 was often used by Coach for sample and pre-production styles. We sometimes don't recommend buying them but we don't want to see them reported as fakes either. The one in the photo is probably genuine but there's no way to verify it.

This style apparently made it into production:

thanks! It is so weird how the link got messed up - if you look at it, it has the correct name and item number, but links to the other item I asked about. I didn't know that about Linda*s***stuff. I had heard a lot of people here say they had bought from her.
