Carlys do tend to wear along the top, but as I understand, this isn't considered a manufacturer defect and Coach doesn't replace the bag for free.

But again, that doesn't matter in this case since the bag is NWT and hasn't been used nor is the top frayed.

I went to the Coach store up here and the manager told me that all carly's have this problem and it is a defect and thats what prompted the zoe line to come out. any carly can be returned and exchanged for a new one for free. idk if this bag is worth all this trouble especially since i already own one. :-\

Btw, the pictures of other authentic bags I've seen on the net have yellow hangtags, while this one has a pink one. Does this matter?

The pictures are an authentic bag. If you buy, make sure that the item you receive is the same as in the pictures.

I believe that when the bags first came out, they had pink webbed straps and hangtag. Then Coach brought them bag with yellow.
