My mom got a really good deal on a Coach backpack, I finally got a chance to look at it, it feels good, is an older one for sure, nothing off putting about the creed but the zipper pulls say coach on them, did Coach ever do that? I'll try to remember to get pictures next time I'm down there but just thought if that was one you could answer wtihout pictures then I'd know. Thank you!!

Do you recall the style number on the creed? Obviously it's impossible to tell much if anything without photos.

I do recall the old Coach "Sonoma" line that had rectangular zipper pulls with "Coach" imprinted on them. Other than that I can't be much help.

I'd love to see photos of your Mom's backpack.

I can find out, I just figured I'd throw the zipper pull part out there & see if that meant anything. Thanks much, I'll get pictures asap. I'll be down there on the 18th for the day so I'll take some then.

Ok, I found out the numbers are 101-75, its heavy navy leather. The brass closure says coach on the back. The zipper pulls are oval & say coach but the zippers she thinks say ybs. I know, not as good as pictures but if anyone had an older backpack I thought it might be some help. Thanks again!!

Oh NO! That is NOT good news! Coach NEVER made a bag with a serial number like that: xxx-xx

There are many, many fakes of the older leather bags and some look pretty good, but that serial number is a dead giveaway of a counterfeit.

Definitely wait to have my words confirmed by the experts here.

Sorry. I hope she can get her money back.

Well, I contacted the seller to ask for specific measurements and a closeup of the creed and they said "It is the small/medium. I am at school and won't be home until the auction ends."

No specific measurements and no creed makes me VERY leary!

Guess I won't be bidding!

Hi,

Your link doesn't work for me. Is it this auction? 270297286535

If so, I would definitely ask for measurements AND a photo of the creed.

The seller has NO information and I can't tell if it's a regular "handbag" or a pouch.

Wait for others to comment.

There is a girl locally selling this bag and I need your help! Her pics aren't that great, but if you could let me know what you think it would really help me out! Was this color even made?

Isn't that infuriating! :cursing: Small/Medium? What the heck does that mean? How hard is it to MEASURE a bag BEFORE listing it?

Some sellers just make me crazy!

Judging by the size of the zipper "gripper" compared to the size of the bag, I'd say it was a pouch. And it looks like either the upper right corner of the creed is damaged, or it has a punch or metal stud through it like one of the discount "basements" like Off Fifth uses.

Sorry, it's definitely fake, and probably one of the countless Made In Korea fakes that servicemen and tourists brought back by the thousands. Coach has NEVER used only a 5-digit serial number and has NEVER made bags in Korea.

I really think your first instinct is correct. I have never seen an authentic Coach bag with that "bright shiny gold" lining.

As always, wait for other opinions.

:smile1:

I agree with DemRam, that shiny gold (or black or brown) lining is always a red flag. And look at the upper right corner of the lining where it's sewn to the bag, see how badly it's puckered and wrinkled? You'd NEVER see that on a real Coach.

Always assume that when someone says they don't know whether it's real - it's NOT.
