Man, I just called the Coach store at Fashion Center, Pentagon City (Arlington, VA) to find out if they authenticate bags and the lady that answered the phone was so RUDE! She cut me off before I could finish and said "NO, we do not authenticate bags" and pretty much hung up on me!

what a B****! Is she telling the truth or is she just dumb? LOL I'm leaning toward dumb... but I did call because I didn't know so I could be wrong! But I do know she was definitely NOT nice! :shrugs:

I think she's just being plain rude -- and dumb! :cursing: I think other members have said that Coach does not authenticate, but that's not an excuse to be rude. What a stupid cow. :tdown:

hey girls and boys :-)
If you go into the Coach store they will tell you if it's real or not. My sister works for them and she said as hard as it for her to tell people bags they bought are fake she will do it. She even had a lady cry once, ouch!
She's also said that some of the employees are fake. I'm friends with one who is and I told her that if Chanel with authenticate they should too :smile1:

YES!!! she was a stupid cow! LOL makes me not even want to go in there anymore!! I mean, I like going in there to ogle all the new stuff, but she made me glad that I buy most of my bags on *bay!!!! :cursing:

Every Coach store is managed differently. My full-price store SA told me once they would only give verbal authentication to someone who was a regular customer. The outlet SA just rolled her eyes and said her Manager won't look at a bag even if someone asks.

Frankly, it's better if they don't. If it's so easy to tell if a Coach is real, why do so many people here have to ask? And why are there so few people who can even give an educated guess? There are THOUSANDS of different styles just in handbags, and you'd need a photographic memory to be able to look at a style and say if it was real or not. There are plenty that stump me and even the classic and vintage experts at the Ebay Shoes and Purses board and there are more Coach experts there than anywhere else. There are styles even they can't agree on.

If a Coach SA or even a store Manager was to be considered qualified to authenticate bags, they'd have to spend 8 hours a day, 7 days a week just studying the subject. Doesn't leave much time for running a store and earning a paycheck. And frankly, IT'S NOT THEIR JOB OR THEIR RESPONSIBILITY. Anyone who buys from a source other than a Coach store or authorized reseller like Macys or Dillards is taking a chance. Why should Coach pay their employees to authenticate items that were bought somewhere else?

If someone needs a written authentication, they can send the bag in to Jacksonville or drop it off at the boutique and pay the $20 authentication fee. If it's real, they get a letter that says so, and if it's not, Coach keeps the fee and the fake. Sounds fair to me.

Thanks for reporting jennarlt! The pictures look like they were taken from that "iAWFUL" fakes site. :tdown:
JessR2 - I would not buy ANY bags from this seller.
