Some wallets (and other accessories) do have a Made in China tag inside them. However, the wallet in the first auction is fake, as are all of this seller's wallets. Always be suspicious when the seller is a fairly new seller without a lot of feedback selling an endless supply of wallets. In case the auction disappears, here's link to the fakes seller: http://myworld.ebay.com/lucky_candyshop/

The wallet in the second auction looks good. The second seller's other items look ok as well.

Thanks again! :smile1:

Hi, I'm asking again. I'm sure this one's authentic, but I want to get your approvals so I can be more certain.

I think the front picture of the bag was a stock photo, so I'm just gonna post the ones that aren't.

Thanks a lot!! :heart::heart::heart:

Hi, could you post the link to the auction or the auction #? If you don't want to post it because you don't want someone else to bid on it, you can PM me. Thanks!

Is there a way to warn that poor buyer before they pay?

Ebay "frowns" upon people contacting winning bidders in this way. Also, since the bidder IDs are obscured, there's no way of knowing if there was some sort of shill bidding going on (the seller or friends of the seller bidding on the auction to drive the price up.) It always looks suspicious when there are several low feedback/new bidders driving the price up, but you can't be sure there was shill bidding going on. The auction can still be reported as counterfeit, even after it has ended. If enough people report it, it will be pulled and ebay will contact the winning bidder about this.

You ladies have no idea how helpful you are to us newbies - but what gave this one away? I totally thought it was real.:confused1:

It's over now, but for the future... how do I authenticate real Coach boots? There are others I'm watching on Ebay. Are they heavily faked?

Make sure there enough pics in the auction. There should be pictures of the various sides of the boots, the bottom, etc. If it says "Coach" anywhere on the boots, I would get a picture of that too. If there are not enough pics in the auction, I would ask the seller for more pictures.

I would not buy from this seller. There are many red flags here: it's a new seller with no feedback selling highly faked styles of wallets and using stock photos. :tdown:

Dully Noted - so this is a stock photo - were there any other wallets made like this - I recently purchased one that looks just like it except the buckle in the middle is the same color leather as the trim around it. Here's a photo. Sorry for the poor quality - I left my camera at my parent's house last weekend. Thanks again for taking the time to assist with all of this.

Wallets are usually hard to authenticate without seeing and feeling them in person. This particular wallet (and all the other ones being sold by this seller) is actually one of the more obvious fakes. The construction and quality of the materials looks cheap. Wallets are some of the most commonly faked Coach items and there are certain styles of Coach wallets that are very frequently faked. Some red flags that should immediately make you suspicious when looking at a seller is if the seller is fairly new and doesn't have a lot of feedback and has an "endless supply" of wallets for sale (or has sold exclusively wallets in the past).

Here is some great advice by Hyacinth about wallets:

BTW, you should also check out the rest of the Answers to Authenticity thread. There's some great info in there. Thanks Hyacinth for writing much of it up!
