i looked at the feedback after i bid, stupid i know. I haven't paid yet. what should I do?

DON'T PAY !!!

Tell the seller that you've discovered that it's fake, and she's in violation of Ebay's rules by listing it. You have NO obligation to pay for a counterffeit item.

The fabric on the one you bid on is crooked, and there's one other serious mistake visible in the seller's photos. Also, the photo that shows the inside of the wallet DOESN"T show the gold-stamped Creed statement that's supposed to be there.

There seem to be some ladies familiar with older coach here so I hope someone can help me. I remember begging my mom for a coach bag when I was younger and receiving this bag but thats all I know about it. I visited my parents this past month and dug this bag out of the closet. If this isnt the right place for this post mods please move it. You may not be able to tell from the pictures/lighting but the bag is a chocolate brown, has ykk zippers, and is small (i cant find the measuring tape now but if you need to know the size let me know and ill look for it) Sorry couldn't get a good pic of the hangtag.
My questions are:
-is it even real
-what year(s) was it produced
-how much did it retail at the time
-name of the bag

Hello Ladies!

Are there any DOONEY & BOURKE experts out there? I don't see a thread for DOONEY & BOURKE and I am wanting to get some accessories for my daughter's handbag.

Thanks
Phyl

Nice bag! It's called a Soho Small Basket Bag from 1997 (the 7 in the center of the first part of the serial number is the year code). The color looks like kind of a reddish-brown rather than a true brown. The color might be either Mahogany (reddish-brown) or Toffee (a lighter shade of brown). Toffee would have had Nickel hardware and Mahogany had brass hardware so yours must be Mahogany. It listed for $128 in 1997, and yes, it's completely genuine.

That might be the first year Coach used the name Soho. The Sohos were a new line of bags that used lighter-weight leather and hardware than the older "classic" Coaches and were mostly smaller bags with simple lines and straps that adjusted at the ends rather than having an adjustment buckle somewhere along the length of the strap.

Hope this helps!

I'm not a Signature expert so I can't really say if the bag's real or not. I don't see any obvious mistakes, but the fakes are getting closer to the real ones every day.

I AM worried about buying from a brand-new seller though. I don't know what kind of Paypal protection Ebay Singapore gives to new sellers' items, but in the US they only offer 200 dollars US in protection coverage if the bag turns out to be fake and the buyer files and wins a Paypal claim.

You might want to wait for the Signature experts to come by, but it's a holiday weekend in the US and a lot of people may be away from their computers.

I think you need to go to the Bags Bags Bags forum and then to the Authenticate This section, there's a thread for D&B.

If you can't get an answer there you can try Ebay's Shoes and Purses forum, be sure to sign in with your Ebay ID and click on Post A Topic

Thanks so much for all the great info Hyacinth! :flowers:
I forgot about this bag until I started seeing older coaches popping up on the forum, and got anxious to find this bag in hopes my parents didnt sell it yet. I was too young in 97 to appreciate the bag but I certainly appreciate it now  What a great closet find! :tender:
