Hi,

I was hunting for a crossbody and found the first listing below. Trying to learn more about the serial number D2S-9118 i made a search and found a slightly different looking coach with the same serial number, which one seem authentic?

Please authenticate this bag. I got it off Mercari, but the seller hadn't included a photo of the creed, so the question of its authenticity remained. Based on the seller's photos I believed it to be a mint green Waverly, but having it with me now I can clearly see it isn't, although accurately capturing the color seems a bit difficult. As I understand the Waverly first makes an appearance in 1993, and in the spring catalogue it's listed in the shade Celadon. (I thought Ocean, before checking the catalogue.) The serial number also fits the pre-1994 format.
The (first three) photos in which it looks more blue/grey are ones that I took now, the rest are ones from the original listing.
In case it checks out as authentic, what's your guess for the color?
The bag is both dirty and worn. The color on the bag's exterior seems to have faded or bleached over time, but the shade on the leather of the inner pocket, zipper and paint on the edges of the handles seems to both hold and match. The tag looks beige almost, but the paint on the edge is the same as on the handles. While this shade does seem to look a bit different depending on the light, I feel like the photos still represent the tonal difference of the inside vs outside. The orginal shade seems to be more of a muted, greyish blue.

Both bags are authentic. 9118 is the style number. The D2S part of the number indicates where and when the bag was made. All bags of this style will have the same style number, even different colors, but the prefix can vary. These bags were made in 2002.

It's authentic. Weird that the inside looks blue while the exterior looks green. I have no idea of the original color.

My best guess so far is that the leather which must be quite light to begin with has yellowed considerably over all those years of being exposed to rain, sun, etc. So in combination with the wear it has started showing through the blue, making it appear green. But whose to say for sure.

Honestly, I usually just look at 90s leather bags which I'm a bit more confident about, but I am looking at branching out a little, hence one being wool and the other suede.

Both are authentic. I don't know the exact names but the first one is a girly hobo and the second is a duffle sac.

Well, well, well...

The mystery color seems to be Ocean after all, from what I can tell so far.
But the inside of the bag certainly took on a brownish hue once it was wet. The water became quite orange as well.
