Hi, authenticators:

I bought a bag on Mercari that I’m 90% confident is genuine, but would like to check just to be sure. I checked the seller’s name here and she was never mentioned. I’m posting photos I took.
Style number: D23-9295
Seller: Marie_H
Dimensions: 10” at the widest part X 6” long in the middle

I’ve researched the style number online and there are other bags made the same year of the same design and in the same factory, different months, that are or have been listed for sale on various sites (eBay, etc.) I looked up the style number here on TPF and there are only a couple of mentions of it, one from years ago, with the authenticators not sure of the style name. The links to the sale listings the people were asking about were long gone.

I even looked through Coach website pages from 2002 on the Wayback Machine and although a couple of the styles might be the same bag, when I clicked through to see their description and size the pages weren’t there.

Could one of you let me know if I made a mistake in buying this and what the name is, if you know it?

Thank you -
Lucy

Sorry, nothing's changed. We STILL don't know the name of it. At least I don't.

The body style looks like a Demi Hobo but I don't know which line it's from, probably Hamptons or one of the Legacy East or West styles judging by the buckle.

Keep in mind that Coach has already gone through almost all the available 5-number style numbers (that's approximately 99,999 numbers), so not all of them are going to be in someone's files.

Here's a similar body style in an Autumn 2002 catalog but from a different line and in a textured leather instead of smooth. I can't tell if it's the same size. That's as close as I can get. Click to enlarge.

Hyacinth, thank you. The ad you show is the bag I found via the Wayback search engine. But it only had a name under it, and I couldn’t click through for more info. I will stick to calling it a Demi Hobo!

That sounds like the best solution. The Wayback hasn't been as helpful recently as it used to be. Maybe Mister Peabody needs to tweak it a bit. (Obscure Baby-Boomer-era reference, sorry!)

Hello everyone!

Currently at a thrift store looking at this vintage willis bag. Just want to make sure it's authentic before spending $50 on it... Any help would be much appreciated!
