  • Before you submit a request for authentication, please search this thread to make sure that the item has not previously been authenticated by searching the seller ID and/or item number. This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.
  • Note that authenticators have the right to refuse any requests. This is a free service, but it is imperative that you help our authenticators by using the following format:

BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read
  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.

What do you make of the made in India tag? It seems way too recent to be in one of these.

Each example should be authenticated. All combinations could be valid. What is never valid is a creed number. Other factors also need to be examined. This one looks okay.

Gotcha. Thank you so much! Tones of knowledge to learn. Another thing if I could, I’ve also seen chunky case with creed that says made in China. I thought all vintage Coach prior 1941 is never made in China. I’ve also seen Willis made in China? That’s a definite alert its not authentic, correct?

Good morning talented ones . Adding to my collection & don’t want to use my limited knowledge as I’ve seen here fake vintage bags posted. I’ve noticed many ppl don’t like Poshmark for buying coach bags- any suggestions where else to look?

I don't generally recommend, promote or authenticate listings from Poshmark because of the site's dreadful history. Some of the problems with Poshmark include (but are not limited to):
  • a history that includes denying claims of buyers who've received fakes, assuring those buyers that items are indeed authentic
  • lack of response to reports and subsequent removal of fakes
  • sellers who know items are fake but go to Poshmark knowing they can get away with the sales there
  • buyers who scam honest sellers and PM's lack of consequence for those buyers
This isn't to say that all buyers and sellers are scammers or that they are knowingly doing wrong but because the venue is so lax, I dislike supporting such a site or sellers.

The bag you've asked about is authentic.

I'm not sure what you mean by "vintage Coach prior 1941". "Vintage" just means that the item is 20 years old or older, and Coach had been making handbags in China several years before 2002, and made Willises and other classic styles there between about 2002 to 2006-2007. Where a bag says it was made has to agree with the other details of the bag and the serial number. The ONLY country of manufacture stamped in a Coach handbag, wallet or briefcase that always means the item is fake is Korea.

And I'm still not sure if by "prior 1941" you mean the year 1941 in the Western calendar, or the line of bags from about 10 years ago that Coach called the 1941 line?

We always need photos of the bag and the creed and serial number to authenticate.
