Is this the same bag from Depop that you've been asking about?

If it is, it's genuine but probably Not As Described. I can't read the listing so that's your decision. There's no way I would accept that, it's been ruined by whatever the previous owner did.

ETA - I see that it's the same serial number, "05(illegible)-1005". The seller RUINED the bag in between your buying it based on the photos and whatever she did to it or slathered all over it after she took those photos. Get your money back, and file a claim under whatever provisions Depop has for items Significantly Not As Described. INSIST ON A FULL REFUND INCLUDING SHIPPING CHARGES. IF THE SELLER WANTS YOU TO RETURN IT, IT SHOULD BE AT HER EXPENSE.

Also please post the seller's name here so others can be warned.

Cannot figure out if this is real or not. The purse is supposed to be a Duffle sac but the serial number ( F4D 9954) is for a prairie bag. I have the bag in my possession and I thrifted it from a small thrift store. Measurements 12 height x 14width x8.5 depth

Yes the same bag from Depop. You’re definitely right, someone ruined this bag, very sad. Thank you for all your help!

I added a few more comments.

Sorry about the confusion, the damage is so bad that I didn't even realize the photos were of the same bag's creed until I looked at both serial numbers. What the heck did that seller do, and WHY???

If she tries to weasel out of giving you a full refund, scream like hell to Depop! And remind them that all-numeric serial numbers in vintage Coaches made before 1994 were unique to each bag, and that the same serial number proves that the two creed photos are from the same bag.

@Hyacinth

Out of curiosity, what style is it? I've not seen one like that before.

If you're asking about this reply by Whateve, the original poster had the correct name right in the question, it's a Soft Satchel 4055 from the Lightweight line and was made in the late 1980s. It was made in several different sizes and I'm not sure which size it is

From a 1989 catalog, here's the standard size:

Oh I am in it now, what a nightmare, no going back now, because before confirming my suspicions here like an idiot I dunked the bag like I knew
what i was doing (I do not know at all) and currently getting the brown paint off this bag. The creed looks better now that there is no paint. What the frig did someone do to this bag? I knew something was wrong right way when I tested an area to get it wet and it didn’t get darker, but instead of pulling back my brilliant brain decided go forward, submerge it. I’ll post the seller’s name on Depop so others are warned. I will also update anyone who is interested with where this ends up if anything I guess it’s a learning experience and I didn’t pay current plaza bag pricing bahaha. There’s a silver lining here somewhere, right? Anyway! seller on Depop is jrubin8
