I think it looks like#4857 horseshoe belt bag. This catalog page is from 1993. The hangtag is definitely fake. I think the bag could be okay. It isn't pre-creed, just a very small bag that doesn't have a creed.

Thank you, I'm glad I asked! With the style number you found I was even able to find a photo I'd saved of how the strap actually fastened:

Just curious - would YOU buy it for that price if you had to tie the strap to the bag because the snap no longer worked?

Probably not, but I wouldn't ever be interested in a tiny bag like that.

Neither would I. It MIGHT have been able to hold one of the very small pre-smartphone-era cell phones but not much else. My old Nokia might have fit but getting my car and house keys in would be a squeeze. The malfunctioning snap and the size might explain why it apparently didn't make it much past 1993, it seems to have disappeared from the catalogs right after that.

Thanks again!

Thx much BeenBurned. Seller on Mercari said pics cannot be sent via Mercari’s messaging so asked for my email. I replied by providing it but Mercari quickly deleted my response due to security issues. However, seller provided the serial number printed on the label. Is that good enough? I hope the bag can still be authenticated with this extra info.

Seller posted an additional pic of the tiny white tag. So I hope this bag is genuine after all. Thanks again for having a second look!

@whateve will correct me if I'm wrong, I hope. But I've never seen that style of bag OR that strap attachment on any Coach, the hangtag is a total fake, and a metal hangtag would never have been used on a pre-creed bag. There's no way I'd recommend buying it based on what I'm seeing.

The seller also says that " The snap no longer holds well and appears as though it had been tied to stay in place. If you choose to use it as a crossbody you can still tie the strap and hide the tie under the flap." For the price s/he's asking I'd look for something that's still functional WITHOUT tying knots in it, even if this one turned out to be genuine.

Some bags are soooo cute but so totally impractical!

Re the bag in question, although there is no creed, picture number 5 shows that it has a "Coach" stamp, enlarged and cropped below:

Dear authenticating experts! Would you kindly authenticate this bag? Although the 2 Coach tags (metal, and leather) are missing, I'm leaning toward thinking the bag is genuine, nonetheless. Thanks very much!

Seller is BlueberryPie
There should be a small white label inside the interior pocket. A picture of that is needed.

The bag looks fine to me.

If the seller hadn't posted the new listing, I would have requested that you post the picture when you receive it because those white labels have been seen on fakes too.

Good Afternoon!

Item:Black City Bag 9970 (Approx. Measurements: 11x8x3.5; strap length:50" longest setting)
Where purchased or how obtained: Goodwill
Comments: Hello Authenticators. Can you please give your opinion as to the authenticity of this bag? I compared it to my 1997 Turkey City Bag and the measurements craftmanship and hardware look spot-on with one exception. The brass piece that attaches the strap to the bag and the reinforced section of leather that attaches the brass piece to the side of the bag look slightly different. The brass piece is very slightly skinnier and where the reinforced leather is sewn to the bag looks slightly more pointy. Were there slight production changes between the pre and post 1994 bags? The last pic is a comparison of both City Bags (1997 City Bag on the right).Thank you for your time.

Item: City keyfob 7105 (Approx. Measurements: 3x1.5x2)
Where purchased or how obtained: Goodwill
Comments: Hello Authenticators. May I please have your opinion as to the authenticity of this cute little City Keyfob if you are able? The key ring is silver-toned (not sure if they came that way or it was swapped) and the hangtag reads, 'Coach' on one side and is raw fuzzy unfinished leather on the opposite side. Thank you!
