Mold damages the leather. First you get spots, then the spots indent the leather. It sounds like you might have a case of mold. If it is dead, it won't cause further damage. You just have to make sure it is dead. If you don't want to dunk again, sitting it in sunlight will kill mold. Vinegar will also kill mold.
Oh dear mold! I'm not sure it is dead but I will leave it under the sun for a few days. We have pretty hot weather here. We get about 6-7 hours of very hot sun every day. Is it the right procedure if I just wet the cloth with vinegar and rub it all over the bag? ( Do I need to dilute the vinegar? )Then put it to dry under the hot sun, right?
Correct me if I am wrong ya. I have so much to learn and this is such a great thread! I am so glad I posted it here. Thank you whateve :)

Item: “COACH Legacy Janice Black Leather Shoulder Crossbody Bag Purse Vintage #9966”
Listing number: Unsure
Seller and site where listed: Seller “retrojunknstuff” on Ebay
Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/325075146081?hash=item4baffd1561:g:tDsAAOSw1WJiDcSs

Need some help authenticating this bag. Just started looking for one of the Legacy 9966s and this one caught my eye, but some odd spacing in the creed is throwing me off. Thank you!

It's genuine, but it's not a Janice's Legacy and it's not vintage. It was made in China in 2005 and was called a Legacy Zip. Handbags must be at least 20 years old to be classified as "vintage".

Style number 9966 is one of the most frequently-faked style numbers and should always be authenticated here before buying.

Especially when the seller has a history!
