Really? I'm stunned! Given your verdict, I'd have to say mostly because of anxiety, paranoia, and a couple decades of feeling like the universe enjoys metaphorically flipping me the bird? But initially, because it's in TOO good of shape to be at Goodwill (anxiety and paranoia?), and the exterior feels almost like a high quality pleather. There's not a single stain or spot on it, only minimal surface scratches, the corners are lightly dusted with wear rather than worn to grey, and it's my preferred light brown instead of black. I don't know how to describe its texture. Maybe because my Station Bag is much more worn in, and I'm used to how that leather feels and moves, while this practically new bag has an entirely different quality.

It's authentic. It's a Spectator bag #9795 made in the late 1980s.

All are authentic. The last is a Madison satchel 9725 (the smaller size). It looks too shiny.

If it's 9301 that would make it a Bleecker Small Basket which is supposed to have a removable long shoulder strap, but I don't see one in the photos. I'm still looking for a catalog photo just to be sure it mentions a long strap.

ETA - The only one I can find is in the 1999 Preview catalog which isn't in any of the scanned copies but it's definitely in the paper catalog, "48-inch strap detaches" and there's also a photo that shows the strap.


Any time the pics of the creed and serial are a bit iffy, it would be a big help if the poster would include what she thinks is the serial number right in the post. The original poster can at least look at the numbers at different angles and in different lights, but the authenticators are stuck with a static photo that thanks to the forum's software ends up at least half the time also being upside down or sideways. So any suggestions about what the serial number actually seems to be will always be appreciated.
