It's an authentic Monroe brief made in 1994. The shoulder strap is missing. The numbers on the suede are most likely markings from the leather processor.

Thank you! The leather in this is spectacular! I have a really fun leopard print seatbelt strap that goes fantastic with this briefcase so I think I will use that for a little pop of fun.

It's authentic. It's a shoulder bag #4050 from the Lightweights collection, made in the late 80s or early 90s.
