Hi authenticators! wondering about this one (not interested in buying it but if it's real, I will be shocked, so it would further my education!).

No, you're not imagining it. we've seen a few of those before. The style number doesn't seem to exist either, and there are quite a a few other problems. The strap is completely wrong and very cheaply made, the year code is for two years before the Tribeca line was even introduced, the creed punctuation isn't right ... you get the idea.

Thank you very much!!

If you have time, can you list/post the problem areas just so I can learn from this? Would very much appreciate your expertise.
Thanks again!

We don't like to go into too much detail, both because it just helps counterfeiters make better fakes, and because it makes it easy for sellers with a dishonest streak to avoid posting photos of known red flags in their listings. Also what's a problem on one bag or style might not be a problem in another.

The plant code is invalid, and the year code 4 for 1994 is five years before that style 9812 was even created.

I feel like I'm beating a dead horse but if my posts prevent even just one person from assuming that "poshmark ambassadors" are honest sellers who sell genuine merchandise, it's worth it!

The fake bag that @Hyacinth (un)authenticated isn't the only fake sold by "poshmark ambassador" tonihallmark.

These are some other fake Coaches that the seller sold:
Fake wallet #1: https://poshmark.com/listing/Coach-khaki-Wallet-5cca063efe19c74d9b1d5188
Fake wallet #2: https://poshmark.com/listing/Coach-Signature-Khaki-Wallet-5df805408d653d6ad98ccb1d

Long time listener, first time caller!

Could you resident experts please check out:
Item: Colebrook crossbody (model #5181)
Serial no. M8E-5181
Link: https://poshmark.com/listing/Vintag...sbody-Briefcase-5181-613a8905163df4bf0ca70c2f
Seller: goldencloset38
(sorry, I couldn’t find any “listing number” on the page)

In addition to the verdict itself, would you also be able to provide an explanation? Just because I find it interesting to know the reasoning behind things…. It’s like Antiques Roadshow.

BTW, I did a search on the forum for this specific serial number, and it pulled up an example from the “notorious Coach fakes” thread. Does that mean that all bags w/ this serial number are likely fakes?

Thanks in advance for your expertise (hope my post goes thru ok). I’ve had so much fun lurking and reading.

Not only is the seller almost a decade off on the alleged time of manufacture, she also hasn't bothered to authenticate the bag.

The year code "8", IF genuine, would indicate a 1998 manufacture date. But since the bag is fake, there's no telling when it was made, or where. Certainly not in the US as it states in the body of the creed. And certainly not in Italy, which is what it states in the production codes.

Poshmark is awash with fakes, and anything you're considering buying from that site by any highly faked major brand - and ALL major brands should be assumed to be highly faked - should always be authenticated here before buying.

The fake itself is surprisingly accurate and is probably the closest fake I've seen of that style. However, the seller comes up short. Not only did she list a fake and not bother to research Coach's production codes, but the first photo in the listing, the "model" photo, isn't even the same bag OR style! It looks like a Court Bag, not a Colebrook Case.

Hello! I found some really awesome bags yesterday at the thrift store. I think they are authentic I just want to make sure. If you guys know any information on them I would really appreciate it :)
