What's happening with all the legit bags being reported as fake?? Lord knows there is no shortage of fake bags online to report. Is the public going overboard with self-authenticating or is trend of mean-spiritedness creeping into everyday life?

Probably the second one. And the cynic in me thinks that several Posh members or former members may be behind it, either directly or as a twisted sort of inspiration. But that's up to Posh to investigate, assuming they have anyone on staff capable of doing that kind of digging. JMO, but it's the sort of cheap revenge tactics I would expect, especially given the timing of the retaliation and the personalities involved.

I vote the latter.

It's not just Poshmark. It's happening on ebay too.

Also, I looked at the listing for a bag that was deemed not authentic (by the buyer) simply because a catalog page showing the bag being available in the color was not available. If you ask me, that was a complete case of buyer's remorse.
Buyers are deluded if they think there is going to be a catalog page available on the internet to show every style and every color a bag was made in.

Hyacinth, and myself to a lesser extent, are making a lot of information available. However, it is by no means the totality of the styles made and colors they were offered in.

Personally, I have less of a problem when a buyer alleges an item to be fake. While I always recommend that buyers verify their suspicions BEFORE accusing a seller, it doesn't always happen.

However for ebay and Poshmark to remove authentic items is a more serious issue. It's said that both sites depend on multiple reports and that both sites have "experts" with whom they've been known to verify. I'm concerned that some of their "experts" aren't as expert as they're believed to be. (And this doesn't even take Entrupy into account! And we know how they've done with Coach.)

And for Poshmark to allow random members to judge listings that were reported is wrong! (Who am I to decide if a pair of Christian Louboutin heels and an Hermes bag are authentic?!?! I couldn't afford the hardware on an Hermes and I've never worn heels!)

Exactly! And especially when vintage bags are involved. Coach didn't even start to put some of their items on the internet until around 1997. And Coach NEVER put their catalogs on the internet. Any copies of catalogs or catalog pages have been supplied by catalog owners, either from digital or paper copies, and the digital copies available in the last 10 or 12 years have plenty of gaps and mistakes. Even many pages once available on the Wayback Machine have disappeared. I think Coach asked for them to be removed.

Hi Authenticators,
After yesterday's disappointment with the fake backpack (I wish I could slap those counterfeiters!) I was hoping this one will get a thumb's up from you. I'm a big fan of Coach's burnished bags so I feel good about this one but as always I value your opinion more. Thank you!!

FOR ITEMS NOT LISTED ONLINE:
Item: Coach Soho 10577
Where purchased: Local Goodwill

It's an authentic Soho flap bag from 2006.

It's authentic, made in 1999. It's not a Janice but is a Legacy zip.
