Hi Authenticators:
Item: Basic Bag/Zippered Clutch
Where purchased or how obtained: Estate Sale
Comments: I’ve never seen one without a Talon zipper. Is that an indication of year, factory, or...whatnot?
Thank you in advance.
I haven't seen that zipper style before either but the bag is genuine, probably from the very early 1980s. The zipper mechanism might be a non-Coach replacement.
I had a basic bag with the same zipper:

ETA: I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about the metal zipper. But now I realize it's the zipper head (that the pull is attached to) and that is different from mine.

It's authentic, made in 1997 but I'm not sure which pictures depict the color most accurately.

Hi all,

A while ago I was talking to my sister about my love of Coach bags and the bit of restoration I've been doing to recently acquired new-to-me glove tanned leather styles. I mentioned to her that I unfortunately purchased a fake Coach bag from Macy's a bunch of years ago and she laughed. She said she didn't think Macy's sold fake Coach so I want to see if her assessment is correct. Will someone please authenticate this bag?

The style # is: B6C 4151 There is no dash between the factory # and the style # which is weird to me. I know this is a Thompson Bucket Bag but is it a real one? As I noted above, I purchased it from Macy's at least 12+ years ago.

Plus I'm not able to determine if the shade is Putty or something else. I have a few fake Coach, i.e. I really wanted one of the XL bucket bags when I was in college and couldn't afford a real one so a friend found a fake one and yeah, I was ok with that so I kinda sorta know how a fake Coach bag feels but this one has me stumped.

Thank you for any information you can provide!

Natalie

Missing dashes in vintage bags DON'T mean it's fake. All those numbers and letters were set by hand and people make mistakes. Missing, out of position or even extra dashes like in some of the bags from 2000 don't mean a darned thing. There's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

And it was made in 1996 so it's quite a bit older than you remember. Soho Thompson Drawstring is the official name. I really don't like guessing colors because there are too many things that can affect how colors look in photos. My guess on the color would be Chamois which is listed as a Spring 1996 color for that style.

Hi Authenticators,
Here's one more Daypack from Etsy that I'd appreciate your help with...

Item: Coach Vintage Daypack (9960)
Listing number: unknown
Seller and site where listed: Sweetdeal22 (seller); Etsy (site)
Link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1001108503/vintage-coach-off-white-mini-daypack?ref=user_profile&frs=1
Comments: Do you happen to know what color it is by chance? Hoping it's not actually white (in warm lighting).

Thank you again!

I believe it's a genuine Daypack from 1997. Sorry, I can't help with the color. It's probably Bone.

Hyacinth,
WOOT!
Thank you for the authentication ! Geez, I’ve got a lot to learn about Coach styles! Now I need to crawl back to my sister and let her know the bag is authentic! I’ll remove it from my “fake” list and add it to the real pile. 1 down and 3 more to go!
Thank you so much for your help!

Natalie
