Genuine, from 1994

If the listing accurately shows the color, it looks considerably lighter than beechnut.

I found a listing with a tag and the wallet is darker than the Biltmore bag shown.

I was only able to find ONE catalog from 1997, and that was from Spring. The Madison line added new colors every year. If they added another color toward the end of the year, I don't know anything about it. There are no Madisons at all in the Summer, Fall and Winter catalogs, the line was already being phased out.

These are the LAST Madison pages in my catalog files, Spring 1997. Maybe it's Caramel?

Authentic, 1995.

Caramel looks much closer.

I think so too now that I see the colors together. Caramel seems to have been a new color introduced some time in 1996. Beechnut has been available as long as the Madisons were in production, 1993 to 1997, maybe a scattered remnant stretching into 1998. So both colors fit the time in early Fall 1997 when the bag was made.

To echo sentiments that have been shared many times in this forum, all of the authenticators’ knowledge and ability to dig until answers are found is invaluable!
I’ll do my best to compare the actual purse to the pages you have posted, but I agree that Caramel makes sense.
