Comments: i cant think of the name of this rare, vintage jewel, but everytime/everywhere i see it, it's crazy expensive. And here it is just lousing about please be authentic ????
Did you just buy it?

I'm not at all comfortable with it. The serial number is completely unreadable, there's a very unusual problem with the creed stamp, the top handle doesn't look right, the construction of the handle is wrong AND IT'S CROOKED. Take a good look at the photos. The hangtag is "off" too but the other problems are more serious. It's definitely NOT a jewel, it's barely cut glass.

If you bought it, don't pay for it..

ETA - one more BIG problem - the outside zipper pull is a design found only on fakes. It's definitely counterfeit.
Another problem - I'm pretty sure I'm seeing SCRTCHES on the creed.

ETA: Why am I not surprised? ~b’s she shoppe~ brandycmeredith is a "posh ambassador!"

And brandycmeredith also has this fake:
Keychain is okay. Wallet is fake: https://poshmark.com/listing/Coach-wallet-key-ring-set-5f2d5e6b06d59c376821919c

Sold: https://poshmark.com/listing/Coach-genuine-leather-tie-fold-wallet-5df01506abe1ced885685bdf - and apparently, she was told that the wallet is a POS and commented to the other member.

And FWIW, she sold a fake Dooney wallet too: https://poshmark.com/listing/VTG-dooney-bourke-wallet-5d583e3e8d6f1ab34cc2d01f

DO NOT BUY FROM brandycmeredith!

So I actually bought this Black Convertible Clutch already off Mercari. I was fairly sure that this is authentic, but there's something about the leather that feels 'rubbery' compared to the Mahogony Convertible Clutch that I own. The strap length is shorter compared to the Mahogony clutch, and it seems this bag is ever so slightly smaller as well. Please help me authenticate, and this is sooo my bad for not asking first.
Here's the link : https://merc.li/mKwf4xvHb

Thank you!

Everything I'm seeing looks good. Different leather suppliers can be using slightly different tanning processes, or the cleaners and conditioners an owner uses can affect the feel of leathers. That style could have been a remake of the original, since my catalogs seem to show that the style had been discontinued at least several years before 1998, so details on any remakes could very well have been slightly different. There's no reason for me to think it isn't genuine.

I saw a second 9966 I couldn't resist. Could you please check it out when you have time? Thanks so very much! :hugs:

This is strange. The creed and serial look completely genuine, but where are the 2 pen pockets on the inside? The creed is in the right place but I don't see any pen pockets or any hint such as stitching holes in the leather to show that it ever had pen pockets. A discrepancy like that at the plant probably would have meant a quick trip to the outlet store.

One possibility is that the inside pocket was replaced by Coach and they added a new creed and serial stamping. Maybe the owner asked them to leave out the pen slots? That's the only explanation I have for it. I HOPE the bag is genuine, but if that pocket was replaced and the new one re-stamped by Coach, we just have to trust that they did it to a genuine Coach and not a fake. That would be a new way of covering up a counterfeit though! We've seen pockets actually cut out of authentic Coaches and sewn into fakes, but would someone actually try to get a pocket in a fake replaced by Coach with a new pocket and a genuine creed and serial?

It's PROBABLY genuine, but I can't explain the missing pen slots in the pocket. I'd also like to see the backs of the buckles for any stampings if you decide to buy it.

Your photo tweaking program is much better than mine.

And another red flag - the Coach logo above the creed looks too big.

Another Poshmark Ambassador shows why we don't trust any part of their authentication "system".

The first one seems genuine, butn when I look at the back using Ebay's magnifier, the one that says "mouse over to zoom" it looks like there's some kind of irregular-shaped stain.

The second one MIGHT be a Compartment Bag Large if it's genuine but there's no readable creed and serial number photo and I'm not comfortable authenticating it without one.

ahh..too small... I know I have a list somewhere of the style numbers for them...but it doesnt have the sizes. Im going to have to redo it and put it in cm so I can understand. I hate having to convert inches to cm.

The Calculator Site has interactive conversion pages for most common measurements, and also a viewable chart.

Inches to cm conversion chart
The chart below shows the conversion between inches and centimeters/centimetres, rounded to a maximum of 4 decimal places.
