Are indentations on the back of the female part of the turnlock always indicative that the item is fake? Or is it only on bags?

This item is a small case, described by the seller as a clutch wallet.

As a rehabber, I can tell you those turnlocks can be removed and replaced, so it could have gotten switched out at some point.

I've also often wondered if at some point Coach used a different supplier maybe one round of bags could have that turnlock and it might not be fake.

I'm no authenticator but I would consider it an indicator not absolute proof.

Thank you. I didn't want to assume anything without asking. I shall wait for more opinions but I do realize that items that are changable and removable can't be used for authentication.

Another thing that caught my eye was the metal Sonoma-type hangtag. The chunky cases I've seen have leather hangtags.

The hangtag very likely was added afterwards. The lining at least looks original but I don't think the ball chain is from Coach and it may not even be brass.

On Coach briefcases made in and after 1996, the squared-off turnlocks usually DO have indents in the back, so that warning sign applies only to purses.

Could someone please authenticate this Coach bag?
From GW today...one of the D rings for a shoulder strap is on the chain with the hangtag...the leather piece is broken, but fixable. Nice of previous owner to include it :)
Long strap is missing too, but I'll figure something out.
Approx. 9.5"w x 6"h x 3"d Handles 5.5" to buckles.
An ebay seller calls it a Legacy Bonnie Small Zip...does that sound about right?
And is it made of linen, or just canvas...any ideas?
As always, thanks in advance!

Genuine. Coach's full name for it is Bonnie's Legacy Linen Canvas Small Zip Satchel which not only gives the fabric description but probably holds or ties the record for the longest name ever given to a Coach handbag. :D

The styles were created as a tribute to Bonnie Cashin, who had died in early 2000.
