May I please request an authentication of this Cooper Zip I purchased off of eBay a few days ago? I received it today and have attached a creed pic.
Item: Coach hexagonal shape leather purse - original owner barely used
Seller: nmikyska
Item number: 274404425033
Link: https://www.ebay.com/itm/274404425033
Comments: it feels stiff, thin, and light weight and the suede feels flat like felt but it looks like it's never been carried so maybe I'm just not used to "showroom new" leather. I don't know. It's a cute bag though! It measures 10 x 3 x 8 inches.

Thank You!

I felt the same way with my new black daypack I think its so stiff and weird from my other bags. I think we aren't used to deadstock. Lol.

Both are genuine.

BTW, a bullseye stamp isn't proof of authenticity. There are fake stamps, and there are fake bags that have been "returned" to a full-price Coach store or outlet and been stamped without realizing they're fake.

Thank you very much. Wow ~ thank you for that tidbit, it’s unbelievable what people think up to scam the system.

If you really want to read a Master Class in scamming the system, I suggest you set aside a few hours to read a very looooong thread here. Make a large pot of coffee or tea or whip up something a bit stronger, put your feet up, get comfy, and start here. Trust me, it's worth the time:

Thank you, that sounds like a good excuse for a martini .

I'd suggest a pitcher, but you want to be able to follow the story to the end, so plan accordingly.

ETA - some of the links in that thread may be dead or gone after two years, but it's worth following the ones that are still active. Lots of background, and excellent detective work by some of our members here. They could teach the FBI a few lessons.

The second one isn't a scooter bag. It's a small sidepack.

Thank you, Hyacinth! In your experience, is it hard to come by vintage green bags? Is this one hunter green? And what does FS stand for?

Based only on the date code and the available colors listed in the catalog for that time period, the color may have been Bottle Green. As I've said on these forums probably long before you started posting, I refuse to try and guess colors based on photos, there are just too many ways that the way a color appears can change and I won't get involved in guessing. Other posters here are probably more qualified to comment.

Coach made fewer green bags so there are fewer available. Black, navy, tans and brown shades were the most popular because they were considered neutrals. Back in the 80s and 90s, Coach bags were expensive and there was little or no pre-owned market where they could be bought at a reasonable price and someone could collect one in each color without spending the equivalent of the price of a decent second-hand car. People who considered a Coach bag a one-time purchase and wanted it to last as long as the company owners said it would usually bought one or maybe two in colors that would go with everything and be multi-seasonal.

From my watching of the classic detective program "Murder She Wrote", even the very well-dressed and well-off mystery writer Jessica Fletcher only had 4 City Bags (still a LOT in those days!), black, navy, white and bone. Classic colors that went with everything. Not a green bag in the lot.

ETA - Something just occured to me. Murder She Wrote ran from 1984 to 1996, I believe. Coach introduced their Soho Fletcher style in 1995. I'm wondering if the name was a nod to one of their most visible "customers"?

Interesting bit of history - thank you! It’s always fun to know these tidbits behind vintage items. And you’re probably right with the green. It would make a lot more sense that back then, with the price of these bags, that a customer would have opted to get a neutral. It wasn’t the 70’s after all! Lol thank you so much again! Appreciate the response :)
