This is not a thread to ask general questions about COACH, please refer to our main Coach forum for such information.

    Comments:
BASIC PICTURES REQUIRED (but more may be requested): If necessary pictures are in the listing, it's not necessary to upload and duplicate them.
  • Front of item
  • Back of item
  • Full clear and legible creed text and serial number
  • Made in tags (when available)
  • Measurements
  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock

  • If applicable, search interior of bag and/or pockets for small white tag with production information and include a picture of that.
Thank you and be safe!

Here are more photos of the Willis 9927. I do hope it's authentic. Brass hardware is real, leather is similar thickness and weight as another full-grained City Messenger I have from the era.
But the thread stitching isn't as uniformed as I'm used to seeing in newer bags. It is normal for COACH bags in the 90s to have not-so-perfect stitching?

Got a Coach Willis 9927. Everything looks standard, but I wasn't sure about the creed. Does it look like USA maybe Feb 1997?
Thank you in advance!

It's fine, made in March 1997.

Thank you @BeenBurned for your response! But I'm a little confused since I read this comment from @Hyacinth (April 28): "...the L plant code was never used for any bags made in the US after the first 2 months of 1997".

So COACH still used the L plant code in March 1997?

All the information we gather is through our own research and when new and/or different examples are found, we alter our dating estimates. it's possible that Hyacinth either hadn't found March 1997 L plant examples or that she erred.

Either way, the Willis you asked about is authentic.

It's definitely March (C month code) and the creed and font are correct for the L plant.

Here are 2 other creeds from bags made in March 1997:

ETA: Although I haven't looked too hard, I can't find any April 1997 L plant examples and there seem to be few March ones. So they may have phased them out in February but had a few stragglers in March.

duh! When I first commented in answer to your question concerning the creed, the "it's fine" was in reference to the March L plant.

I shouldn't have said (in my next post) that the Willis was fine without seeing the bag itself.

Now that you've posted pictures of the bag, I will confirm that there are no problems with it. It's authentic and looks to be in great condition for a 23 year old bag.

Thank you sooo much for sharing! I looked through the forum for the past 4 hours and could only locate other 9927s but not from 1997. From the photos you shared - both C7L-9927 creeds looks identical!

Thank you for confirming! I'm so grateful to learn from you.
I think the Willis may have been "dunked" (something I just learned here ) and went through some minor restoration before? The leather smell is a lot more faint compared to the 9790 (May 1992) I have.

Hi! It's my first time here and I was hoping to get this Coach bag authenticated before I pay for it. I'm a little concerned because I'm buying it from a co-worker who has a friend in the States who does this for a living - buying bags from outlet stores and shipping it back to the Philippines.

Item: NWT Coach F79609 Gallery Tote in Signature Canvas Crossgrain Leather in Brown Black
Where purchased or how obtained: Arundel Mills Hanover, MD
Comments: Bought from a friend. Was supposed to come with a gift receipt but was lost during delivery.

The dimensions are approximately:
17"w x 11"h
base: 5.5" x 12.5"
straps: 24.5"

Welcome to TPF.

Your pictures (attachments) aren't working.

Is the bag listed online?

Without seeing pictures, I can't comment on the item(s) or the seller's source but will just say that we've seen some very close fakes coming out of the Philippines. Often, the sellers claim to have purchased from US outlets and sources but that isn't true. I often recommend that when possible, buyers not purchase from sellers in the PI because of the fakes I've seen.

If you can post pictures, i may be able to comment further on the particular item.

Sorry about that, I'll try to upload them again below.

That is actually what concerns me the most, that the receipt just happened to get misplaced on the way here. It's not actually listed online but this is where I got it from: @chammy_shoe on Instagram.

Thanks for the additional photos.

LOL! As I was typing that, I questioned in my mind whether you might be offended but I reminded myself that we've all made 1 or 2 mistakes (or maybe 3 since we've been around a while) and that makes us human and less intimidating!

Thank you!

Thank you for the pictures and the link to the seller's instagram account.

Personally, I wouldn't recommend the seller or the bag from the pictures you've shown. None of her items show enough pictures, clear enough pictures or the correct angles necessary to authenticate anything. Many listings are simply stolen stock images from various designers' websites .

From the pictures you've shown, I'm seeing a HUGE red flag although the bag doesn't "appear" to be fake. Does the red flag concern anyone else?

I wasn't able to find the listing in her IG of that bag so I didn't see the pictures shown in the listing.

I don't recommend buying that bag.

I was just going to post about that problem. Add to the mix the "misplaced" receipt and that it's apparently a Philippines seller, and the odds of it being fake go up to 100 percent. Three strikes = OUT.

Her Kipling items are stolen stock images too.

"To err is human, to fogive, divine".So I'll be my usual divine self and forgive. :giggle:

That always reminds me of my favorite Barney Miller episode, the one where Wojo's girlfriend unbeknowst to him makes hashish-laced brownies for the detectives. It was just on a few days ago.

"Mooshy mooshy."

"First time in 20 years I felt this good and it has to be illegal!"

"Hey Barney... let's go down to the beach and shoot some clams."

" 'To err is human, to forgive, divine.' Forgive me, Barney. Be divine."

"Stay home until you feel better."
"Okay Barn, I'll stay, but I ain't never gonna feel no better."
