After a dry spell I found this beauty at a thrift shop, could the kind authenticators please let me know if is authentic and may be called a basic bag? I think I saw awhile back a similar one being authenticated, but I do not know for sure. There are anchors on the clasps, and dimensions are about 11 x 7 x 2.
Any other info as possible age, style... will be greatly appreciated. TIA :smile1:

It looks genuine, made in the late 1980s. I'm not sure if the strap is the same age, Whateve should probably take a look since I don't know when Coach stopped using the strap clips with those anchor stamps.
Yes, that was my thought too. I've never seen the anchor on anything that didn't have a NYC creed, but it is possible either that the original buyer has two bags with similar straps and mixed them up, or Coach had some hardware left over or maybe the strap was made previously. The company that made the anchor hardware went out of business in 1998 so it is possible that Coach was still buying their hardware at the time this bag was made. It just doesn't seem likely since we haven't found it on any other USA bags.

thanks a lot!
They both look good.

I don't think they even acknowledge our existence. I DO know that directly mentioning tPF at any of Ebay's in-house forums will get your post pulled and sometimes the poster might get Pink-slapped. :graucho:

I don't know if that attitude carries over to Paypal.
Hi Hyacinth

After some thought (& procrastination :-) on my part, I decided to contact the seller first rather than PayPal about the fake Coach. The seller responded immediately, claims ignorance and wants to work out a refund.

At the very least looks like she doesn't do due diligence before she sells.
May I share tPF site with her as well? Or a bad idea?

(This may have been asked by someone else in another thread, sorry, couldn't find it.)

Thanks!

Now we have to add Beaver Falls, PA to the "do not purchase" from list of sellers selling "sample" Coach bags with missing serial number, oddball creeds, inaccurate text on creeds and BS stories about where the bags came from. I believe these bags are scary close fakes.

So far, the seller's I recall are
colleenk415
cierraluv2shop
randiesstuff
And possibly
gagany

With the exception of cierraluv2shop, all are from Brooklyn, all sell items that are NWOT with serial numbers, creeds and details that are off and all have been discussed here.

Compare the creeds from the green bag listed by colleenk415 to that I posted from cierraluv2shop's listing. The stitching in the corners is identical. These listings are the same bag!!

sted by thecollector629 Hyacinth, and BB, you might want to reference back to my posting #2954 where I was requesting the authenticity of two bags being offered by
colleenk415
There was a yellow and a green bag, and the same issue came up with the creeds and the statement about the genuine croc bag being made from "glove-tanned leather".
I am pretty sure the seller of the auction in question cierraluv2shop, bought those two bags from the other seller - it's a strange coincidence donchathink?
There are photos of the bags there from the original listing,
and THAT seller's responses to my queries.
Sherlockina Holmes reporting!:salute:

Okay, I'll say what I said previously. I don't believe the bags are authentic, they can't be proven as authentic and I don't recommend a buyer purchase them.

While cierraluv2shop states in the listing (for the yellow one) that the bag was "purchased at a sample sell so the serial number is not imprinted on the Coach creed," I cannot recommend her as a seller.

We've proven that she's not the original owner of the bags so clearly SHE didn't purchase directly from Coach. The fact is that SHE doesn't know with 100% certainty that the bags are authentic and hasn't done what should be done for items not purchased directly - have it authenticated.

While I do believe that cierraluv2shop might think the bag is genuine, in a case like this, a professional authentication would be in order and even then, I'm not sure there would be a conclusive authentication.

JMHO.

Good points all......

Thank you both again for your help and education. The color matches perfectly on the strap and bag, I never gave it a thought that they didn't belong originally together, well who knows, thanks again.:smile1:

The seller is welcome here, but she has to follow the forum Rule about not posting any direct links to any of her auction pages.

Well, I won this bag for a friend and I just happened to look at the feedback and see she has sold a fake bag before.
You already had that bag authenticated here although the seller's not-so-great history was mentioned:
