Yes, that was a rhetorical question/comment on my part.

But how does anyone think that a Lexington Briefcase looks like a Willis or a Station Bag? How does someone think that a 16-inch wide briefcase is the same as a 9 or 10-inch wide handbag?

Although considering the state the world is in these days, maybe this is just the New Reality.
And any criticism is Fake News, right?

Dear authenticator, please kindly authenticate this Ali flap purchased from eBay. I was very disappointed upon receiving, the damage at strap was not disclosed in the listing. However the seller quickly refunded me, and told me to keep the bag, they can't get a return label for me, I am in Canada.
Now I am not sure if the bag is even authentic, real Coach bag should not be damaged so easily. If it indeed is Authentic then I would like to pay back the seller maybe half the cost, and try to have the bag repaired somehow.
Thank you very much.
Measurement approximately. 13" wideth* 5.5"depth* 10"height when stuffed .

The bag is authentic and I commend you for wanting to do right!

The bag is in my possession so photos are attached. My apologies in advance for so many pictures of the creed. I could not get all of it in one shot.

Genuine, made in 2000

Thank you BeenBurned! I forgot that Poshmark is not the best place to shop for bags - I'm in Austria, so I don't know much about how reliable different US websites are. Thank you for pointing this out! Hopefully I'll find a similar bag somewhere else. Even though the seller seems quite nice and has added additional photos on my request.
I'm sorry because I'm sure there are honest sellers there who are responsive and sell authentic items.

But after seeing their lack of action on reports of fakes, poor handling of returns of fakes, sellers who knowingly sell fakes, and their banning of members who have gone there to try to help, I can't support such a site.

Item: Clutch, unable to find anything about style 9833. Does the M in the creed mean it was made for Macy's?
Seller: thrift store.
Link: n/a
Comments; dimensions are about 7" height, 11" inches width and about 2" depth. Thank you!

It's too early to have a code showing for which retailer it was made, and any such code would be at the end of the number, not in the middle. And depending on WHICH M in the creed you're referring to it either is the month code or the plant code. See the Salearea Guides for creed and serial number details,

Style 9833 is an International Clutch, made in 1996

I understand and I framed my question as to whether it was even possible for someone to know. I'm brand new to the forum and it appears that there are some people here who are extremely knowledgable about Coach practices, so it was just a question and someone may have known. I did have an authentication request for specific links completed yesterday. I assume they looked the photos over well and made a judgement on all the bag features.

Usually if we notice something not quite right, we'll say so in our reply. Sometimes if it's busy here we may not have time to check on something like whether it has the type of strap it's supposed to have for that year, our concern would be that the strap is genuine. Any time you want specific details checked you can just include that with your authentication request and we;ll try to get to it.

Item: I wasn't able to find the name. In a very old post I saw 9818 as a hobo. Not sure
Seller: thrift store in NY.
Link: n/a
Comments; dimensions are 6" height, 11.5" length, not quite 2" depth. The plaque of the turnlock is much different from those I have seen. It has no prongs, flat and a slight "ridge" on the edge. I hope that shows in the photos.

The only name I've heard used is Penelope Zip or East-West Penelope Zip, but that's NOT confirmed by any catalog or web listing.

The 9818 looks very similar to the 9154 Demi Turnlock. The main difference seems to be the size.

9154 (9" x 5.5" x 2.5"):

I couldn't find 9818 on the Wayback, but there are several listed on eBay The measurements given by sellers are around 11.5" x 6" x 2". Looks like they were all made in Costa Rica in early 2001. Large Demi Turnlock maybe?

Thanks, I went ahead and made an offer on the eBay listing and it was accepted. I have noticed across Posh, Etsy, and eBay listings that some Station bags have an adjustable strap and some do not. Is there a way to know which years should have which style of strap?
I searched for Station Bags in my limited collection of catalog images. The earliest picture I have is from 1983. The strap length was listed as 36" and it was not adjustable.

By 1989, the Station Bag came with a 44" non-adjustable strap, with an option to substitute a 36" strap.

The last Station Bag image I have is from 1997. Still no buckle on the 44" strap. I don't know when (or if) they started offering them with adjustable straps, but it would have been after 1997.
