Hi all, I have a couple more items I was hoping someone could authenticate for me. Both were purchased at thrift stores years ago and I've been holding off on rehabbing them until I can verify their authenticity.

#1 is (I believe) a red Coach Willis, measurements 10.5" width, 10" height, 3.5" base, serial # on the creed is No J6C-9927:

#2 is (I believe) a black Coach City Willis missing its strap, measurements 12.25" width, 7.5" height, 2.75" base, serial # on the creed is No K9C-9153.

Both are authentic.

Can I also say for the record that I really, sincerely appreciate how quickly you authenticators are able to get to these requests? I took a look in the Longchamp forum for authentication turnaround and there are folks in there that have been waiting for weeks, whereas you guys spoil us with how fast you get back to us. It means a lot and I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say thank you for taking the time to address these when you are able to do so.

Oh, dear! Another red bag:

Vintage Coach Dark Red Leather Whitney #4115 Shoulder Bag Purse

I'm assuming this is unlined--photos do not make that clear. Also, is this on the larger side? I had one in brown long time ago and do not recall. No rush on this. Thank you in advance, authenticators, for indulging all of us and our interest in classic Coach.

Thank you for the authentication and the reminder. Not really looking for a big project. I'll pass on this one and keep out an eye for other styles. My rehabbing abilities extend just so far--I've been really happy with about four bags. I think I'll stay in my lane and not venture into the Lightweights. Happy weekend!

Sorry, I just noticed that I skipped part of your question, even though you decided to pass on that particular bag - AFAIK, none of the lLghtweights had a lining. I'm just going from memory, but in the 15 or so years between the Cashin styles along with a few spinoffs Coach made from her styles and up to the early 1990s when Coach introduced the Sheridans, Madisons and Sonomas, I can't remember, "remember" being the key word here, any styles or families that had linings although a little voice in the back of my head is whispering "You're fogetting something, doofus". But I'm sure someone will come along and remind me of what I've forgotten.

Meanwhile, have a great holiday weekend ("in keepin' with the situation!") and a lovely Earth Day.

Gramercy? Is that the one you couldn't remember?

You're welcome! I've heard the Longchamp authenticator hasn't been authenticating for awhile. I don't think anyone else has stepped in to help. We're lucky that there are several of us to split the work. The poor Chanel authenticator is all by herself and that forum is so busy!

Gramercy? Is that the one you couldn't remember?

No, the Gramercy came after the time period I specified, which was from the end of the Cashin Era (1974) to the early 1990s and the introduction of the Sheridans (1992). The Gramercys came out in late 1999, and several styles including the ones I already mentioned plus the Hudsons, 1997 Manhattan Collection, Flatiron collection and several others from between 1995 and 1998 had linings several years before the Gramercys.

I'm not comfortable with it either. The mid-1990s C plants had a pretty distinctive look with an extra-long dash between the two halves and a very short underline under the "o" in "No". The one in your photo doesn't show the same details.

Here's an example of a genuine one from the C plant in 1997, click on the thumbnail:

The serial number font is also wrong, you can especially notice it in the numbers. Yours is not genuine.

The style number isn't right either, if it says 9790, that's a City Bag. If it's 9799, that number isn't even in my files. A genuine Pocket Purse made in or after 1994 would have a style number of 9755.

Get your money back

Thank you SO much, @Hyacinth!

I'm very sorry that this thank you was delayed. It was just an unusual, rough week, so my attention was elsewhere.

THANK YOU!
