  • For bags with turnlock closures, show pictures of back of female side of turnlock
  • For bags with magnetic snaps, show pictures of the male part of the snap so that the numbers and letters on it can be read

  • I ended up buying this bag on eBay and it didn't occur to me to post to here before buying (I usually am hanging out in different corners of the forum). I am attaching a few pictures here. We need to see the link to the ebay listing and seller ID (as per post 1, page 1).

If you have the bag in your possession, please feel around inside the bag, probably somewhere inside the zippered inner pocket for the white label. You may have to turn the pocket inside out to find and photograph it.

The bag looks good.

Had you asked about the bag prior to purchasing it, I probably wouldn't have recommended the seller. That feedback is scary! (The seller is high volume but 97% isn't a good feedback score and the number of negs and neutrals is huge!)

Hi ladies, can you kindly clarify some information for me, I'm still learning about these bags and about this forum. I think this is appropriate for this thread since it relates to authentic versus fake bags, I did try searching for other threads as well. If this is not the right place, please forgive me and if you could kindly direct me to the appropriate thread.

1. I see many many women that have matching sets of all these coach bags, they are all usually new with a tag but I can't figure out why they would be selling sets for a quarter of the price of 1 bag, are these typically authentic bags? Something is definitely fishy

2. I've always read that Coach does not ever put their logo on their lining but I see many leather bags that do, is this correct across the board or are there exceptions?

3. I see many new Coach bags with wrapped handles, I was under the impression that Coach never wraps handles and these are typically fakes?

4. This doesn't relate to authentic bags (i'm sorry) but i'm trying to find a matching pieces for my bag but can't figure out how to search to find them (assuming they make a wallet and bag Scarf for every pattern) my bag is 18970 and I know it's Chelsea Scarf Print, is that the name of the pattern I should be searching?

1. Sometimes people selling buy bags on sale or at the outlet and are able to sell them for less and still make a profit. Sometimes I wonder if they aren't always making a profit because I see bags for sale cheaper than I've ever seen them at Coach, even when Coach put them on sale. There is no typical answer for this. Each listing has to be evaluated separately. However, don't assume something is fake due to the asking price.

2. It's not true that Coach doesn't put logos on lining. There were periods of time when logo lining was used for some bags. What you should never see is a signature pattern on the lining and on the exterior of the same bag.

3. It depends on what the handles are wrapped with. They don't normally use plastic but I've seen styrofoam and tissue used. I haven't bought a new bag for a few years so I can't attest that they never use plastic. However, I doubt they would since leather shouldn't be wrapped in plastic.

4. You could try to searching with Chelsea scarf print or just scarf print. Or nylon. Or signature. Most sellers don't list with the correct pattern name so you'll probably just have to look through a lot of listings to find what you are looking for. They don't make a wallet and scarf for every pattern. I think I've seen a smaller printed wallet in the same colors as your bag but I'm not sure.

Wow, thank you SO very much! That it's super helpful, I've always wondered those things and never had the right person to ask so i'm happy to finally get an answer. I've read so many things over the years it's hard to know what is the truth, now I know.
Oh and I've tried searching just about every term that's why I asked about the pattern, I'll keep on keeping on.

Small clarification: While you'll never see a "solid" signature bag with signature lining, there are exceptions to the "rule" when it comes to patchwork bags.

There are more than a handful of styles that are patchwork bags that have signature patterns mixed among the patterns and those items have signature lining.

Here are just a few examples (and there are others not shown):

No. It's the buyer's (or seller's) job to do reasearch on the major selling sites to find out what similar bags sold for. There's no list of average prices or "market value" available otherwise - something is worth what someone at that place and time is willing to pay for it. There are a few for-pay research sites like Worthpoint but even those prices should only be used as guidelines and sometimes include prices for counterfeit items.

Search Ebay's COMPLETED LISINGS for that exact style and look for the ones marked as Sold. There is usually a very wide range in prices. This isn't real estate where the value of a piece of property can be calculated fairly closely, and even real estate uses "comps".

Hi everyone! And thank you for doing this valuable service and saving us all some money and heartache...I'm new here and just purchased this new (to me) Soho(?). I can't find too many online so maybe I have the name wrong in which case I have more work to do and I'm so sorry....I have doubts about authenticity so I'm hoping you can help me.
I've included a picture of the back of the magnetic snap in case that's of any help.

It's genuine, but I don't have a name on file. It was made in 2009, one of the Soho styles. A few Ebay listings call it a Soho Pleated Flap Bag.

It's a soho pleated flap bag. (Although it looks "chelsea-ish," it's Soho because of the horseshoe shaped buckles on the strap.)
