Good morning, Authenticators! I am interested in the following bag and I am hoping you can help me authenticate? I have a couple of concerns:

Item: Chanel Calfskin Cerf Executive Shopper Tote
Serial No.: 13352327
Listing No.: 100489
Seller: Fashionphile
Link:http://www.fashionphile.com/chanel-calfskin-cerf-executive-shopper-tote-black-100489
Comments: I am concerned that the CCs on the hologram sticker appear to be smudged. I am also concerned that the dimensions are listed as 14x8 when this bag should be 14x10.

I thank you in advance for any help!

Hi all-
Can someone please help authenticate this bag, your advice is greatly appreciated:
Item Name: Chanel small boy bag, black caviar w/ aged antique gold hardware
Who took the pictures: I took these photos
History of the bag: I purchased this from a third party
Comments: I have compared it to my authentic Chanel bags purchased personally by myself in stores and everything looks good, however, would like the reassurance from you as this was my first time purchasing outside of a store.

Please note that there is the normal "cc" hologram on the authenticity card, but it was hard to capture in the photo (currently depicted as a white circle only)

Thank you in advance.

Hi! I am new here and hopefully do everything correct. Could you please help me to authenticate this Chanel bView attachment 3164315

History of the bag: seller states that he has bought the bag in the Chanel boutique by himself
Comments: I found another bag with the same serial number (but in Jumbo size) online - does every Chanel bag have a different number or is there one number for more than one bag?

Per Roku-

"I don’t authenticate photos of most 17 million series and higher reissue, classic, and boy bags, unless it is from a seller who I know and trust (which are very, very few). Recommended authentication services is at the bottom of this post, but most of them don’t do photos for these either, due to so many super fakes. "

Hi Gail13-

Thanks for your reply to my post. My Chanel boy bag is a 19 series versus 17, would you be able to provide insight onto its authenticity?

The newer the bag, the more difficult it is to authenticate with pics alone. Roku is stating 17 million series forward.....A 19 series is more recent than a 17 series. She may be able to tell you, if so she will comment.

We post this as a warning so people know it is difficult is authenticate these bags and thus should buy with caution, when not buying from boutiques etc.

Got it, thank you for the clarification.

Authentic
Bag was Redyed from white to purple
Not 228 as per description but 226 size
Thank you so much Roku!

You always go above and beyond and teach me something new. I never would have thought about the dyeing (how do I keep finding these dyed bags!?!). I'd seen the white inside lining and just thought it was like the burgundy inside black bags. Didn't even cross my mind...And thank you also for confirming the sizing.

I am so grateful for your wisdom and generosity! :urock:

Thank you for your answer!
Kind regards from Austria :-)

Per Roku:

"If I skipped your authentication request, it could be because:

1) It's not for a handbag or small leather goods. I don't authenticate clothes, clothing accessories, shoes, jewelry, watches, cell phone chains, etc., purses and SLGs only

2) I don’t authenticate photos of most 17 million series and higher reissue, classic, and boy bags, unless it is from a seller who I know and trust (which are very, very few). Recommended authentication services is at the bottom of this post, but most of them don’t do photos for these either, due to so many super fakes.

3) Your Request format does not include the information required (see post #1). Format is important. Because, people do searches on TPF all the time, and it’s important for results to show up for those who 1) also want the same item authenticated and 2) want to do research on the seller. Or the serial number. If we are putting in the work to look at your item, at least do the courtesy of typing in the serial number and following the right post format. It’s the least any requestor can do and it helps everyone. This also applies to follow-up posts - when you have additional information / photos to the request, you will need to re-submit with all the info (seller, serial number, etc) from the previous request, so that we are not link-hopping to find your original one. Additional note: If you are posting photos which belong to an online listing, live or closed, you must include a link to the listing. If people start omitting the link and just attaching photos which belong to an online listing, I will stop authenticating photo-only requests.

4) The photos available for me to view (both through the listing link or additional ones you posted) do not include all shots/angles needed (see post #2), and especially if it does not include
Clear photo of front, back, interior shots of the bag,
a clear, up-front photo of the hologram sticker (if it exists on the bag) and
the CHANEL MADE IN FRANCE / CHANEL MADE IN ITALY / CHANEL MADE IN SPAIN stamps. (for some items including vintage items, the "Made In" stamp is located in a different location. Need both).
Hardware, back of zipper pull, back of turnlock plate photos are helpful too
If the actual bag (the bag itself, not just the photos available) is missing any of the above attributes like the sticker or interior stamping, that is OK and you can still post the request and I will look at it, but it must be mentioned that it's missing/peeled off/rubbed off. Detailed hardware photos become more imperative in these instances.
On the flip side, there is no need to re-attach the same photos that are already in the listing.
If you do not have at the very bare minimum the above images, please do not even bother posting a request. You will not get a response. If you are waiting for the seller to email you photos, please wait until you have received them before posting.
5) You have posted a million requests in the last few days and I am starting to feel like a circus animal

6) I already authenticated or commented on that particular listing. Please do a search. That’s why we make everyone else follow the format

7) You are rude. We have feelings, too, and also reserve the right to personally skip or not authenticate for any reason. I will do the best I can, but what I choose to authenticate and not is at my discretion as a voluntary authenticator (operative word, voluntary).

8) You're not a new member, but it seems that you only use the forum for authentication and not dialogue. Please post more, engage more in the TPF community. If you're new, and an auth reason brought you here, welcome!

9) Something about the bag, the listing, or the seller makes me uneasy, even though everything seems OK on the listing or photos.

I also currently do not authenticate items on Tradesy.com due to my disappointment in the business practices of the company, where they are fully aware of the tens of thousands of misleading listings posted of items that are not in the seller's possession but in a different country, or not available for sale but undisclosed, because it helps them with SEO, traffic and advertising. Authentication in a way potentially helps a sale take place, and I have no desire to assist in the company's profits at this time. Every public shared selling platform has issues with bad listings, stolen photos, etc., but this company not only shows no attempt to fix this issue, but rather partakes in this practice and endorses these sellers, which is why I have singled this site out from others.

Due to counterfeiter lurkers on this thread and others, we are not permitted to post about authenticity attributes or discuss why's or why not's on authenticity. Keep in mind the only proof of authenticity is the item itself, and the only indicator of authenticity is if the bag is made by Chanel. Every "rule" has an exception, so on and so forth. Those "how to tell if your Chanel is authentic" tutorials do more harm then good. It's like if a doctor did a tutorial on how to perform a heart transplant. Does more harm than good, and is more dangerous than if the person knew nothing at all.

Recommended online authentication services for a small fee:
Etinceler Authentications (etincelerauthentications.com) - based in United States
Authenticate4U (authenticate4u.com) - based in the UK

Also, please do not PM me for an authentication request unless I've invited you to do so... Please post it here on this thread."

Thanks.
