Hello authenticators! Long time lurker, first time poster. I am considering this Blade bag, but the closure is a little different than others that I have seen. It includes a button and loop over the blade clasp. Do you know whether Celine ever used a closure like this on the Blade bag?

It's also listed as being part of the 2010 collection, but I thought this bag debuted in 2013 (I'm chalking this up to a listing error, but it made me wonder about the unpictured date code...). Thank you so much in advance!

Hi,
To answer your question, it is coated canvas similar to LV. I own several vintage Celines and as for authenticity, (I can say, at least for myself), until Phoebe Philos tenure as AD, I've never seen retro/vintage age replicas, or at least anything considered passable. I'd buy it. Also VC has a great authenticity team as well.

Some background information, in the mid 80's and 90's we saw an influx of replica Gucci, Burberry, Chanel, and LV due to general households seeing these designer brands mainly bc of fashion broadening their reach in areas of television, print magazines, and movies/celebrities. The counterfeiters saw a demand and capitalized on it. As for Celine, notable counterfeits began with the popularity of the luggage (smiles) line and the Celine trio and now pretty much anything under Hedi Slimane, like the Triomphe line, are knocked-off consistently.

Comments: This seems to be a a vintage Ava from the 2003 Michael Kors time, in macamade canvas with date code CE00/23. I've seen other bags with the same date code of CE00/23 but most other tags say "Made in Italy" under them, while this one says "Made in France". I did see in other forums that some vintage bags were made in France, but I'm not sure if I should be weary of this considering I think the "CE" references the factory it was made in, so I'm not sure how CE00/23 could be Made in France and Made in Italy at the same time. Thank you!
