Hi, can you use the format in the first post in this thread? It's easier to authenticate that way. :smile1:

Oh, another good place to see if something's already been noted as fake is in the Hall of Shame thread. Note: that thread is not all inclusive, only what we happen notice and can state for sure is fake.

I will be more careful next time, thank you Miss FancyBags :smile1:

Hi Authenticators,

Would really appreciate your help in authenticating this:
Item Name: Bottega Veneta Large Woven Bag
Listing number: 110568251029
Seller name or ID: davidyoung79
Working Link: http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110568251029&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Comments: My main concern is that the seller does not have a very long history, and also the bag's location in Taiwan. How can I be sure the bag I eventually receive is the one in the photo, even if it's authentic? As I'm not too familiar with BVs, I'd appreciate any advice. Thanks a million! :flowers:

Looks good! :smile1:

Hi, good thing you asked! This one is fake!
Miss_FancyBags, thanks very much, i'm so glad I checked as I thought this looked genuine and I am really grateful for your quick reply. Is there anything you can highlight to me that I can look out for in future with BV bags? i know authenticators don't like to highlight specifics to avoid helping those less honourable, but if you could give me a general idea or pm me I would be really grateful as I now think I may have bought a few fakes in the past. Many thanks xx

Although styles differ, you can compare the photos from the bags we believe are genuine with photos of the bags we suspect are fake. After awhile you will be able to spot some differences. this is easier with the modern bags (since about 2002). Vintage is an entirely different kettle of worms!

My first BV was a fake--I was devastated. Once I learned about the Purse Forum, I wanted to learn everything I could about BV.

Thanks boxermom. I will have a look at the pictures of some of the BV bags the Purse Forum members have commented on. I thought I was pretty good at spotting fake BV bags, but obviously not! I rarely buy a bag from an auction website now without checking with the Purse Forum - a great peace of mind resource and an invaluable aid xx

Item Name: Bottega Veneta Magnolia Montaigne (2007 pink)
Listing #: n/a
Seller Name: lollipoppingsu
Working Link: http://www.bonanzle.com/booths/loll..._Magnolia_Montaigne__2007_pink____Price_Drop_
Comments: This would be my first BV purchase. I am clueless between fake and real. I like this so much because of its pink color. Thank in advance for all your help.

Hi, we need more pictures to authenticate... :smile1:

(From first post in this thread):

Needed Pictures: Please make sure the item in question has clear close-ups of
1. all logos including those on hardware and pressed into leather
2. both sides of the authenticity tag
3. views of zippers and zipper pulls
4. views of the lining
5. outside views of all sides and bottom
6. views of hardware
7. mirror, both sides if applicable

I had tried to attached some more pics (jpeg format) that the seller sent to my email account, but the size are too big and could not attach from purse forum. Could I forward you my email? Thanks

Sorry, but as soon as my recovery disks come in the mail, I'm going to be reformatting my hard drive on my poor baby laptop due to a horrific malware attack. I won't be clicking on any links, pictures, popups, random websites, etc. any longer (well, unless at work because we have tech people who can deal with that and it doesn't cost me time or money :D) It's no fun having to fight my son or husband for their laptops or use our clumsy desktop right now....(I'm done complaining...)

I think there are some instructions on how to attach pictures on this forum. When I have trouble attaching pics due to size, I just crop them smaller and that usually works! :smile1:
