After I read this, I took off all my jewelry and cleaned them. I wonder if the author came across the love bangle? I only got it steam cleaned once at Cartier...I'm too afraid of taking it off too much because it may loosen the screws. Hmmm. I hope my body chemistry doesn't melt it on my wrist! Ahhh.

How are you supposed to clean something like a stainless steel watch? And how can a pearl ring stuck in bleach still have black goo? But anyways I always take my jewelry off when I get it home and clean it at least often enough lol.

Ugh. I cannot understand how someone would not notice that their watch was disgusting or had stuff in between the bracelet links. And it drives me crazy when my jewelry doesn't shine, so I clean it often (with the appropriate methods depending on the stones). I don't normally take out my diamond studs except to clean them, but they get cleaned a minimum of once a week. The whole purpose of jewelry is to shine and look pretty, IMO, so it makes no sense to not maintain it properly.

I would bring it to a jewellery store and have them steam the bracelet links, or just rinse it in windex and scrub with a toothbrush. but steam is the best!

Wow, that was a gross yet informative article! I don't ever sleep in my jewelry, and I clean my jewelry very often. I agree with HauteMama; jewelry is supposed to look pretty and sparkle...and it certainly isn't going to sparkle when it's covered in household chemicals, dead skin cells, etc...ick.

Yuck, some people are really disgusting. Who wouldn't notice that? Just think these are the same people that touch your shopping cart, gas nozzle, etc. That's why I always take my jewelry off before washing my hands and when I'm home. I make sure my jewelry is always clean, I just don't understand people that let jewelry, watches rot on them.
