Are you going to upgrade? If so to what?

im curious, what do others do with the old e-ring? sell it to fund the new ring? why not just keep it and archive it as your e-ring, then get a new and better ring and call it say 1yr/5yr/10yr+anniversary ring? that's what I do :smile1: i would definitely get better rings w/ my partner in the future because i love jewelry and to commemorate the milestone... but i would feel odd if say, in 10-20 yrs down the road i'll wear +++carat size ring and say it was my e-ring (how could we possibly afford that when we were young?) lol. i'd just say it's my 10yr/20yr/_yr ring :smile1:

The only pic I can find of my original e-ring on my phone is one my husband took the day after he proposed almost four years ago. You have to zoom in to see it. I'll have to get it out of my jewelry box and post a better photo.

I can't bring myself to sell it or even take it out of its setting. It's the only item I feel sentimental about! Even though I don't wear it after receiving my upgrade, it's makes me happy just knowing I still have it.

And here is my upgraded ring. I just took this pic outside today. It's in desperate need of a good cleaning, and my fingers are unmanicured and swollen from the heat.

I don't think I'm going to upgrade, l love it too much so I'm going to wear it til the day I die, BUT...I did get a new radiant cut diamond ring as anniversary gift from DH recently, so I guess instead of upgrade, alternative solution is to get a new ring =)

I'm getting divorced. I want to upgrade my ring to a divorce ring. Weird, I know, but whatever. I just hope I can find a jeweler to give me a good trade in for it.

I don't think it's weird. my mom did this when my parents separated :p

she traded in her wedding set for a 2 ct band instead.

maybe you should get yourself a fancy coloured diamond instead?

I just got my ering the other day and can't imagine upgrading it. If I did, though, I imagine I'd save it and pass it down through the family. I'd probably save it for when one of my future kids would get engaged.

Lovely ring set! May I ask what you upgraded from and to? Also, how long until you upgraded?

Hi purplepinky, my original e-ring is a 1.10ct round brilliant, while my upgrade is a 2.52ct. They're both VS1's. My original diamond is an H in color while the upgraded stone is a J. My upgrade is a Hearts and Arrows cut, though, and it actually faces up whiter than the H, to my eyes at least.

The upgrade was for our 3rd anniversary. I really don't envision ever wanting a larger stone. BUT I'll never say never, lol.

No upgrading here. Way back when DH and I discussed engagement, I told him I wanted a carat diamond set in platinum. I was barely 20 and I had the nerve to tell him "I'm worth a carat" (as in, don't bother proposing with something smaller) and I also had no clue what platinum was :shrugs:. I got exactly what I wanted but I'm never going to get a bigger solitaire.

Now, I did ask for a diamond eternity band for our 10th anniversary last year and I'm trying to figure out how to swing a three stone band someday but my engagement ring stays as is. Right now it's in the safe and I miss it!

No plans for upgrading. Before we got engaged I was told there would be no upgrade. If anything I'm hoping for some more bands to stack :) Maybe Tiffany metro bands? Or something similar.
