My DH and I were having a talk last night and he has told me from the time we got engaged he wanted to upgrade my E-ring someday. This seems like a very touchy subject with some people...
So what about it? Do you plan on upgrading.. if you do to what? Did you already upgrade? If so show some pics of what you started with and your new upgrade!

I had a replace plus upgrade erring lastyear. I original engagement ring 1.10 ctround set in custom halo and it was stolen in 2008 due to a break-in. I don’thave pic of the original ring. I waited until2012 to replace and upgrade to 2.01 ct center in custom cushion halo. Yes, itwas planned and budgeted out. Do I plananother upgrade? Yes, perhaps later down in the road to 3ct ish but right now Iam very happy and love my ring.
Theren, what do you want to upgrade to? What shape?

We do plan on upgrading my engagement ring! Not my stone, but the setting. I have a 1.25 carat round stone that I currently wear on a pretty 14k yellow gold knife edge Tiffany-inspired solitaire.

My upgrade will be a Simon G setting (style number NR109) with two toned 18K white and yellow gold with canary diamonds on the halo. I fell in love with this setting about two years ago while searching for a wedding band. It's the only material item I've ever come in contact with that has made my heart sing!

My husband also really likes the setting and we will likely purchase it around our one year wedding anniversary which is this November.
What are you thinking about upgrading to, Theren? :smile1:

Well im sure you have all seen mine and I love my yellow diamond.. but I think we both decided together to make my current ring a pendant.. add the diamonds down the shank to be another halo and make it a pendant for our children (once we have them lol). Maybe a sweet 16 gift for a girl or a gift on her wedding day or even a gift to a daughter in law one day.

I really liked dealing with David at diamonds by lauren so I will probably go back there.. I have a few in mind I like but once it gets a bit closer I will really start norrowing it down and we can decide on a price range.. so far these are the ones I like that i have kept pictures of.

Those are gorgeous and I've heard many wonderful things about diamond by lauren. If budget allows, the large 4.66ct radiant is TDF.

Upgraded last year to a 2.1 ct square radiant cut ring inmicro pave setting. My original ring was a 0.75 ct round solitare ring but was lost in 2007. We do plan to upgrade again down the road, maybe when we hit the 15 to 20 year anni mark. Last upgrade was for our 10 year anniversary.

We upgraded to a 2.52ct round brilliant from James Allen. I love it! It's set in a platinum six-prong Tiffany-style setting, which I absolutely adore. I stack it with a 2mm Tiffany eternity band with a 2mm plain Cartier platinum wedding band. I love having dainty bands that are so comfortable to stack!

My original engagement ring, which I will never part with although I don't wear it anymore, is a 1.10ct round brilliant semi-bezel from Movado (before they got out of the jewelry biz). It has a very modern, structural feel to it. My husband is a mechanical engineer and is fascinated by the unencumbered view the setting allows of the diamond. He picked it out and surprised me with it, so it will always be very special to me.

My upgrade isn't as large as many, but I was originally engaged with a .26 ct stone and we upgraded to a 1.71 in a yellow gold cathedral setting. We planned to at 15 years, but by the time we got things right, it was 16 years. I wouldn't be opposed to upgrading again at another milestone, but that may wait a while given that college for the kids is coming up!

I can happily say yes !!! I've been thinking about it for awhile lol but only recently asked DH .. He was open to it and said lets do it for our 5 year ( 10 months to go ...) but for me, the planning has already started

I currently have a 1.6 round in a Tiffany inspired setting looking to upgrade to about 3.5 ( give or take a little) I have a cheat sheet of all the advise Ame has been given to help me pick when the time comes .. Will be making a trip to NYC for the diamond ...

Looking for round again ... And although I'm always sooooo tempted by the halo , will Likley do a 6 prong Tiffany style setting

Now looking on ideas to turn my 1.6 into a pendant :) :) :)

Same here! My original stone was a beautiful .50 ct which we upgraded to a 1.78 stone with a plain 4 prong setting. I would have liked to upgrade again at our 15 year anniversary a couple years ago but we have twin boys with Autism and their current therapies and future care and schooling have taken priority. But I live vicariously through the lovely reveals here on tPF!

We upgraded my ring for our 15th anniversary. Before that I had changed my setting a few times, I could never figure out what I was looking for. Maybe it was just a bigger stone lol.
It took a few suggestions for my husband to realize I was serious, but he didn't mind. I think he really just wanted me to have what I wanted. First I picked a 2.5ct pear three stone. I loved it but realized I wanted a higher color and I missed having a round solitaire so then we went back and I got my 2.3 RB. I can't see wanting to upgrade it again, I think it's perfect. But never say never, right? :graucho:

Sorry for the huge pics.

I put my a 1.07 carat oval (from original e-ring) into a necklace. I haven't decided what I will do about an upgrade. I have toyed with the idea of wearing a band stack with diamonds. I also love emeralds, and I would love to have a two carat emerald cut.
