Are WOCs (Wallet On Chains) a necessity?

I've had my eyes on this one for about a year, but I can't justify the price:

That's what I originally wanted and obsessed on for months!

However, I read a thread on the YSL subforum that scared me. Apparently, YSL WOCs and flaps have a lot of quality issues. :/

Everytime I go on holiday and visit nice restaurants I wish I had invested in a Woc. I would like to buy one soon, I think they are great for travel. I just need to decide which one.

I find them pretty

I haven’t found many that offer a practical amount of space (some don’t really fit my keys). Or my bare minimum for work when paired with my backpack (like my work badge).

They are also too big to be my primary wallet and fit in a normal medium bag.

I mostly hate moving my cards around. I’d rather just stick with my regular wallet.

They can work for parties and concerts if you can get one with a suitable size. Not a good pick for travel for me. I like a but more space in my bag. But if I can bring two bags the WOC might work.

I personally don’t think they are a splurge item unless you can get a lot of use out of it.

That being said, I am really liking my newest coach foldover clutch. It holds my phone, keys, lotion, lipstick and a few more things. And it has a removable leather strap, optional chain strap too. I think it might end up getting a lot more use than just parties.

There are a couple of Céline ones that are tempting.

Nope. I bought two and sold one. The only reason I can't get rid of my other one is that the quality is terrible (Prada Saffiano leather). Nobody would want it lol. I learned the hard way that they didn't work for me.

Oh no! That's a shame, it's a perfect looking WOC to me. No other YSL piece speaks to me as much. Oh well.

I was looking at one on eBay this morning, and I noticed that as well. But I thought it was only on pictures.

I have a WOC which I haven't used yet. Contemplating on selling it. It's gorgeous, but I like to wear WOCs crossbody and the length of the chain is too short on me.

I have this Gucci wallet on strap and I find it pretty handy when going to evening functions! Totally worth it imo.

I prefer if they have detachable wristlet strap and detachable crossbody strap so you can use it as a large wallet in the day, clutch at night, wristlet if you prefer, and finally crossbody for hands free.
