Are these Tiffany chains more fragile than traditional chains?

I own several Tiffanys necklaces and have had one actually break on me after wearing it twice - it was the letter pendant with the "ball chain" - I don't know a better way to describe it. http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/Ite...-c+563629-r+101287465+0-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+-k+

I just got it for my birthday the week before and I wore it that night and then the second time a week after. Thankfully, the SA understood and I exchanged it for something else, but I loved that pendant!

The other necklaces I own have the regular chain and are great - I've had some of them for 7+ years without any issues!

I've been wearing the Gold open heart necklace everyday for more than 5 years and it did break once because I tugged too hard at it (it got caught in my turtle neck sweater). Brought it back to tiffanys and they got it fixed immediately. Considering the chain is very thin and I've been wearing it for so long, it's really durable.
