I also wondering that Why they are some kind of many unsold on the window(display) even from last season..!! like GC Wallets(python skin)...Prada wallets(lizard)...The price? or actually no one like to buy excotic skins..!?!?

My take is that price would be the main factor? Also, many people may not like exotics to begin with. I personally would not buy a bag made from the skin of animals I wouldn't eat (not trying to sound judgey, this is just my own approach)

I wouldn't pet a reptile so it doesn't interest me to own a reptilian bag. Not a moral issue for me just think it's a little gross.

Sometimes I see bags with snakeskin *accents* though and they look really nice.

Never bought exotic skin, even trim.
Never will.

Completely dropped brand, when mulberry went this way.
Refused hermes porosus croc b35 & exotic wallets, etc.

Will NOT carry such items or support their manufacture.
For me, cruel reptile slaughter method is big factor. Also, zero durability.
Equals lives ended horrifically for nil purpose, imo. Nope.

thanks to you all kind sharing and comments..:) :) ,i do really appreciate...wow..2 sides of coins for my topic..i may do more homework before final decision..tks tks..
Any other imo also very welcomed :)

I can't tell you which to buy, obviously you need to make up your own mind. Leather V exotic are quite different.

The leather LV will prob be more durable and carefree but ring lizard looks beautiful (I have a pair of Prada ring lizard shoes) but it may get dirtier just because it's light. For me it would depend on whether it would be my only wallet (even though I carry a Gucci croc wallet every day).

You are paying 2x or 3x of the price for exotic skins compared to normal leather, not because they are durable, but because of the rarity. The skins are all very delicate and it takes a lot of care to produce items hence the waste is also high, adding further to the price tag. Water/moisture is very bad for exotic skins (with the only exception of ostrich) so think about the weather where you live. They also age differently and make sure you are comfortable with that. e.g. most lizard skin yellows (unless it's dark colour) over time so you will need to prepare to accept that. Having said all of that, of course each exotic skin piece is special in its own way and can feel very luxurious. Good luck deciding!

Wow another *excotic skin Guru is here!! There are other info that i never heard before!!(water/moisture/ place of living/aging with yellowish..etc). Even they are special & lux...but I d think twice before making any decision for these untold points from the SA. I do really appreciate!!:..(-these maybe the answer why we still can see some excotic items have been sitting under the glass display quite a while or from last collection). heumm....

Oh no I am no Guru whatsoever! Just bits and pieces of information I picked up over the years. Some SAs will not tell you things and some SAs just simply don't know about it. In general, exotic skins are delicate and need care when handled.

I have never liked the look of reptile but I do like ostrich, alligator and croc. But will not pay the outrageous prices designers ask for them! I have an Etsy artisan who has made me some beautiful ostrich bags for less than 1000 USD and an alligator or croc (I'm bad at keeping those straight) for under 2000 USD. I'll stick with her. She makes custom made or made to order of her created styles.

I had some vintage crocodile/alligator pieces, they are absolutely gorgeous even after decades. I thought getting vintage exotic pieces was a great option because they pass the test of time, (somewhat) cruelty free, and a lot cheaper for the same or even better quality. Eventually I sold all of them because I didn't feel quite comfortable using them. Maybe one day I'll get some more just as collectibles.

As a reptile owner, I agree. Will never but it. Faux possibly but its like fur to me and should be looked down upon the same way real fur is these days - faux or not at all. Not for me.

I like the added texture and/or color of the exotics.

I think choose wisely to find a pattern that will work for your intended use and lifestyle. This year I have been using a snake clutch for holiday parties with my LBD. I haven’t used an exotic for a daily bag / shoes.
