Are Diamond Earrings A Requirement For Every Woman?

I don't think anything in life is ever a requirement. Wear what you like, how you like, when you like. Not because you think you ought to.

Reading this reminded me of a girl I met recently. She has a fabulous collection of Louboutins. And I mean utterly fabulous. She confessed to me however they absolutely kill her feet. Blisters, cuts, toe squashing and rubbing her skin red raw. I commented she must truly love the brand (although even to me, it doesn't matter how much I love something, if it hurt me like that I wouldn't partake) but she confessed to me the reason she wore them was more as a status symbol other than anything else. I don't get some people.

Don't follow everyone else's lead for the sole reason of being the same.

No. Each person has their own preference. Some women spend all of their money on jewelry (my mom) and others prefer nice handbags or shoes.

I love my diamonds because nothing sparkles like they do. I wear my studs everyday. But if you prefer silver or other jewelry that's totally up to you.

Not everyone can afford diamonds so you have to do what your budget will allow.

They should be issued at birth! :D

Seriously, you should wear what you like and look good wearing. If you like diamonds, wear them by all means. What you normally wear sounds lovely to me--and elegant.

Mind you, if someone, like my DH, told me that I must have diamond earrings, and they were going to make sure I never went without them, I wouldn't exactly put up a fight!

I was at an out of town wedding last year and had forgotten earrings. The only store nearby was a Banana Republic. I bought some fake diamond studs for $25. I get tons of compliments on those earrings. If you think you might want some, buy some fakes and try them out. But absolutely nothing is a requirement.

definitely not. i think again, it's personal preference. i had diamond stud earrings that were gorgeous, but tbh, they weren't ME. i have long hair, so wearing small earrings like that just didn't work for me. i wear plain YG hoops everyday and i love them.

having diamond studs are not for everyone, just like pearls. it all depends on your personal taste and preferences.

I love diamond earrings, but I probably will not own studs. I would just be too worried about losing them. I prefer designs with smaller diamonds so if one falls out, it can replaced without much cost. Losing a stud would be insane (imo) to replace.
I have diamonique studs in a Tacori design from QVC.com They are very pretty and cost less than $60.
I do wear diamond studs in my 2nd piercings. They never come out and they are small. about .12 points each.

Here are some of my diamond earrings...
Gorgeous and unique!

Not a requirement. I just got my 1st pair of diamond earrings at age 44. Not traditional studs but rather flower shape (my preference). I wanted diamonds to go with everything. I don't like costume jewelry so I think investing in 1 quality pair of diamond earrings is a good decision. I am more of a ring person so now that I have reached my holy grail of diamonds for rings I moved on to the earrings. I am happy to wear the same pair everyday.

I think it's a nice thing to have but not for everyone. My MIL is very into accessorizing and big jewelry. Diamond studs just would fit her.
Diamond studs are very much MY thing, but I have a really odd ear metal allergy (weird because I don't have the allergy anywhere else. I can only wear top two grade titanium in my ears. Because of that I have only been able to find CZ and titanium studs. I wish I could get diamonds in them but I can't. I've asked several jewelers..they all swear I'd be ok with platinum, but it's not true.
So basically I think it just depends on a woman's personal style. You mentioned you have pearls. I love looking at pearls and like them on other people but feel they look silly on me and just don't fit my style. To each their own :-)

I have 8 holes in my ear including my tragus and I have 4 pairs of diamond studs ranging from 0.25cttw to 1cttw. The diamond is my birthstone and my hair is very short and I love diamonds. Not once did I consider getting them based on someone's "must have" list. I know many people consider pearls to be a "must have" and I don't like pearls so I don't own any. If you want to experiment to see if you like diamonds then go the cz route. But don't buy diamonds unless YOU like them.
