Are bag charms a trend that’s met its end?

I don’t mind bag charms eg it can spice up a bag, but I do cringe when I see faux Pom Pom fur charms (be careful as they could be made of real fur like from dogs and rabbits) I also like the fendi leather charms but again feel really bad for the real fur charms.

I had several furry purse charms and for several years I clipped one on every bag before I carried it. But for some reason, I stopped using them this winter. I guess I was following the trend and didn't know it :)

I was using them way before they were trendy, so I guess for some people it's a thing forever. It's a way to personalize a bag. But my charms are all about $1 from Walmart... I wouldn't pay hundreds for them, that's bizarre to me

I like the charms/tags that come with purses (because they typically are mad of the same or a similar material and/or colour), and some smaller/simpler charms. I'm quite specific to a few brands, and I don't always have one on my purse. That said, one day I hope to own my own little Thomas Bear :)

I wear a coach rexy charm on hermes bolide.
People notice & compliment charm more.:giggle:

Bag charms are the tattoos of handbag world.
How we personalize & express individuality.
Some people are tiny cupcakes.
Others are huge glitter bears.

Especially with all charm choices now available, think trend will continue.:rochard:
I have a Coach Iridescent Rexy on my LV Speedy, I love it, people do notice it

These extras have been around forever. This is the third wave of bag charms according to my sister, who tells me there was a whole wave of bag charms going on in the 1990s, including bear-shaped everything.

I certainly know towards the end of the '00s Gucci bags often came with their own removable charms (and extra straps) which is charming (sorry :amuse:).

I have about 4 other charms that I bought without a bag attached. My Burberry Punk Thomas goes on a large 1990s Burberry duffle that updates the bag. The largest charm is reserved for travel bags and the other 2 smaller charms are often worn to make whatever bag more coordinated with the rest of my outfit.

I do wince at some of the much larger charms on smaller bags. Such beautiful bags don't need hiding. Proportion is key but each to their own.

I think this wave's so globally fashionable because people have slowed down on buying bags and are now concentrating on buying things for their bags, e.g. charms, straps, stickers and soon-to-be raincoats (Valextra already sell these = £150). Many bag charms are expensive but, for some it's a less expensive alternative than a whole new bag.

Well, lol, Coach has been using the hangtag for a very long time! Little history for Coach, the original hang tag was leather one side with suede on the other. It was for marketing so a customer could feel the leather of the bag. At some point, early 90s, they went with two sided leather and . . . The original hang tag used was baseball, shaped , embossed. So if you ever see that, truly a collectible.
Well, since I’m a quirky duck, I sort of used what moves me. I do see a lot of cute ones. But since the hardware on my vintage Coach is brass, the few silver/nickel ones don’t seem like a fit. Also, some of the handles on my bags just don’t lend themselves to something hanging and they can be problematic. I have certain bags I find even the little Coach hang tag a nuisance and take it off. I found a great little fair trade item being marketed as a zipper pull that is just the right little something for my neutral bags. I am actually going to the Coach store to get a few large personalized hangtag for several dressier bags that I see other

Sorry, glitchy tabley cut me off.
So I am interested in a few custom hang tags for my dressier bags. And my favorite accessory is not a charm but a scarf. The practical element is I can put it around my neck if the office is drafty.
So I will continue to use whatever whenever on my bags as it suits my mood. And doesn't get stuck in a door! And if the bag charm phase is over, I will be looking out for some second hand bargains.
