Yesterday was the first time I shopped at Gucci, Sloane Street and will now be the last. I went to pick up a pair of shoes for a friend (and tpf'er) who lives in New York as she could not find them in her size there and she got the shoes to be put on hold. It took them a very long time to find the shoes (OK) and initially the SA told me they were £455 when they were actually £495 (which she later denied saying). She was nice but very slow.
Anyway I was in a rush as I had to get to an appointment. When I went to the till to pay for them, I found there was only one person who could process payments. Noone knew where he was, I was getting impatient as I had to go and was already late. Eventually he waddled in (no apology and full of attitude). He said 'I'm here' - not even a quick apology to say sorry to have kept me waiting. He was rude and he was slow, it began to feel like he was deliberately being slow. He then said I looked upset. I told him I was disappointed with the service, and that I had been waiting as I was in a rush and he could have at least apologised. I told him I was paying £460 in cash and rest with card. He failed to get my card processed and asked if it was a signature card (it was clearly a UK bank debit card with clear chip and pin) he then did it again, and charged me £30. He then counted the cash twice more. I repeated that I was in a hurry. He then said I had to pay £5 more. No apology for missing simple arithmetic! He then said he would not serve me as he didn't like my attitude. I had already paid £490!! He said he would not continue with the transaction. By this point I was getting angry.
I told him I wanted to speak to his manager. He smirked and stuck his tongue out sideways and said he was the shoe manager. I said there would be someone above him that I was going to complain to. He said, 'I'll tel you later'. So rude!! At this point I was livid. The manager finally came and I complained. She wanted to take me aside to talk but I was so late by this point I could not stay. She took my number to call me. She called once late that afternoon and I missed it by a few seconds. She left a voicemail to say she would call back today. No news yet.

I get better service at the newsagent's . I can't believe this extremely rude man with this level of unprofessional work attitude is serving customers. Never going there again. However I don't know where to write to as the customer service has been beyond disappointing.

Rant over.

I'm so sorry for your experience HQ.

I'm a reg at both SS and BS stores and they're both usually great.

I know SS has had a very high rate of staff turnover, and both London stores have lots of temps ATM, but in this case you seem to have had trouble with senior staff. It's very odd that the Head of Shoes was at the cashiers desk at all, downstairs there is usually a regular (female) SA who is totally professional but perhaps you paid on the shoe floor where sometimes I see the station totally unmanned. The SA who served you first should have stayed with you and helped you through the process beginning to end.

It's such a shame because my favourite SA in the world works there and puts herself out completely for every customer - obviously it must of been her day off!

Thanks for your supportive comments. I didn't get a follow up call as promised. Tried ringing the boutique but didn't get through. I would be grateful if anyone has an email address so I can make a written complaint? I just don't think this is acceptable service.

I am shocked and disgusted and feel awful after reading this. What an absolute prick and to be like that at Gucci??? I'd consider calling Gucci.com On their site there is a customer service number and when you get through to someone tell them that you have a complaint and you want their Head Office contact or Corporate Office or a customer service manager to speak to and have their email information. They should give it to you. Let me know if you do..

Seems like everywhere you go nowdays, bad attitudes. My dad spoke about this recently. Customer service has just gone down the toilet. People don't seem to have much pride in what they CHOSE to do for a living. If you don't like "serving" others, find another line of work PLEASE. Last week my mom was purchasing a couple of T's, she lightly folded them at the register and the lady unfolded them, balled them in a big nasty mess and JAMMED them in the bag and then looked at my mother like WHAT? DO YOU HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THAT? Get into another line of work lady.........

So after 6 days I got the following reply today
Dear Mr. ..(can't even get my gender right!)
we are sorry for the perception you had of the service offered and we wish to confirm that we are verifying your matter in order to get back to you as soon as possible with further information.
Best regards,
Etc

Perception??!! I am annoyed.

Don't worry, all responses are scripted (hence your new gender!!!) It's all to cover themselves for legalities, as an arbiter they must appear neutral whilst investigating

:hugs:
