I have a small tank francaise in white gold with crocodile straps. It's a classic and I like it, but sometimes I really want the Chanel white ceramic watch with diamonds. That's more trendy, but I would probably spend the money on another Carter. Being sort of young, I wish I bought the midsize. But, when I took it in to get it serviced, the guy told me the small size should last me longer over time (I guess old ladies want a smaller watch). The white gold does scratch a bit and you can bash it up like I did. I was shocked at the price of the servicing. Maybe I got ripped off, but it was almost ~$400 for the servicing, new band ~$300, ~$300 for a new crystal, $300 for a new crown. The crystal was a little scratched and the crown was chipped. I couldn't see it though. I could've bought half a nice handbag for that price.
I think for the one with crocodile straps you can make it trendier by choosing different colors. They have all the colors of the rainbows. I picked bourdeaux for my next strap. Otherwise you can leave it classic with a black or navy blue band. But, it's not a real attention grabber. Maybe I should've bought the stainless as I think that's a bit more durable. I heard from the lady who sold it to me though that the white gold with links will scratch easily. So for every day wear, I think the stainless steel links is the best.
